Fingerpick Problems

I use Jeff Newmans finger and thumb picks.
they work for me.

Take some emery cloth [semi-coarse grade].
I just use plumber's shine cloth [seeing that I'm in the trade].

Cut it roughly in the shape of a "T". Open up the fingerpick enuff so you can glue this "T" on the inside surface, grit side up.

The glue to use is FLETCHING cement. This can be found in any sporting goods store. Look in the archery section. It's used mainly to glue feathers on arrow shafts.
Excellent glue for this application, and sets up pretty fast.

After the glue has dried enuff, take a sharp
one-sided razor blade or X-acto knife and trim off the excess emery cloth.

Refit the picks to your liking, and your good to go. You can do the same thing to the thumb pick.

Believe me, these picks stay put. Very durable, as well.

Once you get the hang of it, it takes no time at all to pump out a bunch. I just did
6 thumb picks this afternoon.

I use Jeff Newman's picks. Like Brad, I spend some time with the pliers fitting them to my fingers, I did try Dunlop and National picks, like Jeff's the best.

Ok used the Propiks last night at the gig. A Great gig too!
I was amazed at how fast I adapted them to me and me to them. Like 5 minutes flat, and no changes all night. These were the single wing versions. I have some of the double wings coming. My mixed brass and nickle Dunlops will still stay in the bar bag, But I loved the Propiks. I could finger mute like I always dreamed about on lapsteel, where I can't palm block at all. That is one great thing about those picks or using your fingers, string mutes are done with the flesh of your finger instead of a chunk of metal. Much cleaner mute.

A certain authority that posts regularly here on the Forum from the big island says:
"It's that BLUE THUMB PICK.....that's causing all of your problems!" "There is an interaction in the alloys that it's made from and it reacts, somewhat like opposing magnets do, to one another". Make sense to me.
