Roland's website says that this foot controller is compatable with the Cube 80GX. It has six buttons in a row for foot operation, not pedals. It's under "accessories/foot controllers" on the Roland website.

Does the Cube 80x, have a compressor to prevent overload damage?
That would give me peace of mind.

I'm thinking of buying a Boss Compresor pedal, for effects. Different kind of compression, but just thought of that.

Just to point out that the foot controller is meant for the Roland G112 and G212 amps as well and comes with labels on it that do some different functions for the two amps mentioned. The controller comes with a pair of stick-on adhesive labels that pertain to the controllers' functions when plugged into a Cube series amp. Here is my controller with the adhesive labels applied. I mention this because the controller's original labels don't make sense for the Cube series application.

Would this work with my Roland Cube 80X Amp?

I really need one like the pic you posted!

If not this, what should I ask the geniuses at Guitar Center? They didn't have a clue!

Roland's web site says this foot controller works with the 80GX, the 40GX, and the GA 112 and 212 and also the Blues Cube Artist.

I use a boss FS-6. I only use it to control the channel switching. The 80XL has 3 inputs for up to 3 FS-6 controllers. You can clip multiple FS-6 controllers together. I don't use anything other than the channel switch function but I'm thinking I may want one to turn effects on/off.

Not sure how the FS-6 works with the 80GX. It looks like a different input type.

On the 80X and 80XL, you can buy a custom made single box with six switches, that has three 1/4" TRS plugs on the back. Here's one of several makers' single box switch:

OR, you can use any latching switch, up to six switches for the three inputs - but you'll need a splitter so that two switches go into one TRS 1/4" input. You can buy a dual switch like the FS6 for each input. You can also use an FS-5U, which is switchable from latching to non-latching. You can also use non-latching switches, but you'll have to tap it twice for on, and twice for off. Here's a Marshall dual switch with the 1/4" TRS that will work. Its hard to see, but the 1/4" plug looks like the same TRS plugs on the Koolkat, which also looks like a stereo plug:

This was all a mystery to me when the salesman was explaining that I'd need six single switches, and three splitters to access all the functions - which was another $200 in switches and splitters! I held off, did some research, and shopped for some discounted dual 1/4" TRS style switches, like the Marshall above, ~$20. FWIW, I discovered I only need one dual switch. The point is, latching and non-latching 1/4" TRS switching is universal to all amps, and some of us may already have footswitches that will work.

Does anyone know if the GA-FC Foot Controller works with the
Cube 80 XL? On the Roland site under accessories it says the foot controller works withe the Cube 80 GX but does not mention XL Thanks, stevet

I AGREE with the guys using the black panel

setting on the 80 xl sounds real good to me
on e9

I like the reverb and delay as well

it also sounds decent on the c6 neck at lower volumes

if I had an ext speaker cab I would try that too

instead of the amp speaker.....

Forgot to mention, I bought a Boss GE-7. A 7 band graphic equalizer.

I love it! So many tone possibilities!! Great addition to this great amp.

I also plan to be posting some videos of my playing very soon. Current stuff, with me playing my ZumSteel Encore.

Does anyone have any feedback, on KoolKat brand switching pedals?

I want to order this one, but I want to be sure it is a QUALITY COMPANY. I don't want anything connected to my Roland Cube 80X, that is not a quality product.

Here is a pic of it:

You have your choice of LED colors, so that's what the text is about. I added that in.
I can also get toggle switches, instead of the regular push type, that you find on MXR pedals.

I would be more at ease, buying it...if someone out there has any knowledge about this company, KoolKat.

Btw, the model is KK-CUBE...& is made for the Roland Cube 80X amplifier.

PS - IF it turned out to be poorly made, could it HARM my Roland Cube 80X amp, in ANY way? I don't want any more problems than I already have....& I REALLY LOVE this amp!!

There's not much risk in trying footswitches, as long as they are footswitches with normal 1/4" plugs, mono or TRS*.

Notice the Peavey footswitch, Marshall footswitch, and a Fender footswitch - I thought it was a cool tribute, since I can emulate all of these amps with the one Cube 80X. The Gibson gets the "Marshall" settings, the Telecaster gets the "Fender" settings, and the fiddle and pedal steel get the "Peavey" settings.

Thanks for the reply & information. I went ahead & ordered it. The plugs are TRS. I should receive it by Thursday or Friday of this week. It will be great, having the controls within arms reach...or closer!

I have until around 7pm pacific time, to decide if I want to change any of the LED colors I chose. I don't think I will have Blue as any colors? The blue on the SOLO function, on the amp...is kinda of glaring, compared to the other colors.
I might stick to reds & greens. Their is an amber, he usually has for the DELAY switch.
He said it's a nice color. A fitting color for Delay, to me.

Any suggestions on colors? Amber for DELAY...or Green?

This has an input for a 9v Boss PSA-120s. That's the big reason I want this over the Boss FS-6...plus it's smaller than 3 FS-6 dual pedals. You have to take the cable out of the boss to turn off the battery, every time you're finished playing. That's bogus, on Boss's part. And I'm a Boss fan. I have their 7 band graphic EQ, & it really gives me the tone I need! The built in effects on the Roland Cube 80X Amp, are essentially Boss effects...& they sound great.

matching amp colors is a good idea - but consider low lighting issues or color blindness. I sometimes have problems telling green from blue for instance.

Most all battery operated pedals will drain with an input cable attached. Not sure why they don't use a defeat to prevent draining batteries
