I'm finding this to be an interesting and informative thread.

I like what Dale and Chris are saying as I am a notorious over thinker...I never had the opportunity to take lessons or be around someone good enough to show me exactly what they were talking about when it came to blocking, or anything else for that matter...when I'd read about palm blocking and how it was suppose to be done, in my head and then from my head to my hand, I'd be rocking that thing back and forth like I was turning the door knob back and forth on the door...I would over think it so badly it was disgusting...I guess because of that when I finally quit or at least slowed down the thinking that I kinda stumbled onto pick blocking and bar thumb blocking and pulling the bar back blocking just out of necessity...it came more naturally to me...Not natural enough that anyone will ever mistake me for PF, and I doubt that I'll ever be considered a speed picker, which reminds my of something Paul said a long time ago, that EVERYONE, can play something fast...so it's those types of things that I tend to concentrate on...There's an old golf thing a teacher said to me once, "Paralysis by Analysis", for me that applies to blocking too!!..

It took me a while but I stuck to it and have pretty good technique. It's very much like riding a bicycle -- you can't do it and then you can. Jeff taught me so much as well... miss the guy.
