george..drinking and being a drunk are two different things. being a drunk is mismanagement of your self-control system.

When I was growing up around New York, I would sometimes attend the various Catholic-church sponsored street festivals (Feast of St. Gennaro, Feast of St. Anthony, etc.) I remember being quite surprised that these church-sponsored festivals all featured gambling games like giant roulette wheels, etc. and guess what the top prizes were? Alcohol! No kidding. I had somehow expected that the church wouldn't have anything to do with gambling and alcohol, but I guess I was wrong.

Jim, my kids used to go to a Catholic school (wife's wish) and as a fundraiser one year they had Casino night in the school gym and cafeteria, including video horseracing. Let me tell you, I staggered home from that and I know a few priests did, too!

I played a fall festival at a Catholic Church and was surprised to find a small portable bar in the church "rectory" or large open area and were serving basic hard drinks and bottled/canned beer and wine coolers etc. but then, maybe that wouldn't surprise you being one of those "Baptist" boys :whoa:
Bill Wilson, I have been making frequent trips to eastern OK to play and after our state went "smoke free" in public places many years ago, it finally dawned on me what was different playing clubs in Oklahoma 8)

No one's making fun of you, George. Anybody can make a few typos; we all do. We're just playing around. Sorry if it caused offense.

I am on another forum about RVs We decided to stay away from religious, and political topics. A boycott for religious reasons seems like BOTH cans of worms to me.
I think if you start a thread, you should expect someone will respond. If a few people feel the need to get the last word in…….someone will get disappointed.
It takes two to Tango

Social Networks, Forums, and Message Boards serve different functions for different people. For some socializing, some promoting, some learning, some sharing, some entertainment. ( some arguing ) So be it, but this topic could have been put in a section other than Pedal Players.

:D Guys please understand , i'm not yelling at anyone . I just like the bold font . If i used CAPITOL letters then i would be yelling in some of your understandings . I like reading the bold letters because they are easier to read . I wear glasses so i can see these better . Sorry if i offended you by doing this . After reading some our your reply's i have decided not to respond to negative comments . Remember this that God loves all of us and Jesus died for you and for that i am thankful . Be blessed . Oh by the way i have been asked by some to use the bold font just so you know . Let me say this last thing if you will . Regardless of what i say i can see you won't accept it so why do i try ? Merry Christmas . G.P.

Mr Preston, I`ve read every post, only because I`m hook line and sinker right there fishin with you, and I am a sinner. Thank You for posting this, It made each and everyone of us think twice about our own convictions at this great time of year and it actually brings hope into our club of knuckleheads, I say this with all due respect, you`re all a great bunch, believer or non believer.

My turn, short and simple... I`ve wondered exactly what you`ve mentioned.
I`ve turned it around as penance as you all know what I mean in certain places, We Catholics call it a guilt trip, Being a confirmed Catholic means your a soldier of Christ and built for battle, So why not fight the good fight, My prayers are the bullets and The Rosary is the piercing sword. We are either for or against him with no in between, We all have that choice , I pitty those that choose nothing, so those of you that choose nothing at least know that I`m prayin for you, But Dont blame me if my prayers were`nt enough :)

One things for sure: It`ll all be clear someday. All I ask of all of you is to "Please" Choose wisely

Merry Christmas

Gary, say no more. You don't have to. I used to work the Opry circuit, some Hee Haw shows, and night clubs. When I gave my heart and life to Christ; that ended me being an enabler. You said your piece; now let it be. The best response, at times, is no response.
