unless they've been abused, steels don't need a complete refinish, etc. i don't imagine tommy abused it.
i completely redid a junker p/p in '99 and it still looks beautiful today.
just curious. not saying this is the case here, but there seems to be an unsettling trend by new well off buyers to have any steel 'refurbed' even before they have seen it.
Your level of intellect has never cease to amaze.

I've owned the guitar for over 10 years it had never been abused but I had seen Billy's work even own another one of his rebuilds and I knew this guitar could look great and wanted it to. I am not a new owner nor am I rich just wanted my guitar to look as good as possible. I also wanted people to see Billy's work that is the reason the pictures were posted. If anyone needs a rebuild of any kind I don't believe you can go wrong hiring Billy to do it.

Took my Emmons Legrande to Billy Knowles 11-4-13 for a tune up. It's a 6 hour round trip for me.

Billy is Great!

That one is indeed the prettiest guitar ever. My hat is off to Mr. Knowles. He refurbished my ZB I can say, without hesitation, that he does the best work.
Have a beautiful night in NC, Billy, and an equally beautiful night in MO, Duane.

Here's is a photo of Larry's Gerdeman's Emmons LeGrande at the Ryman with it's original owner Tommy White:

Image

Tommy White (staff band) - Donna Hammett (Bill Anderson) - Pee Wee Rogers (Little Jimmie Dickens)

The staff band is: (right to left): Spider Wilson - Michelle Capps (librarian) - Jimmie Capps - Ralph Davis - Jerry Johnston (over Ralph's head) is Seely's drummer who was subbing for Buddy Harman on the staff band)

I think this photo was taken January 15 & 16,1999 when the Opry returned to the Ryman for the winter. I hope it's OK to post this picture of Tommy & Donna and the staff band. I just wanted to post a photo of Pee Wee "if just to see the smiling faces in the band."
