You're probably right. And Dusty Springfield and Dolly Parton aren't British, either. It is a CD of mostly Brit-Rock tunes, not exclusively.

I received my copy yesterday and put it in the player immediately. Jim, you've done a great job on everything, starting with the selection of material, performance, and packaging. I really got kick out of the pictures on the inside and back of the package as well as the front. (Judy picked up on the Queen) Hearing these tunes bring back a bunch of memories. You find yourself singing and humming along the first time it plays.

A year or so ago I asked Jim when he was planning on putting out another CD. His reply was he wanted to wait till his playing reached another level so as not to do the same thing over again. Well pal, you reached it!

This project isn't just another steel guitar album, but a great album that's done on steel guitar. And also, the tone is way beyond "acceptable."

My hat's off to you!

Classy cover. I listened to the tracks and what a clean sound. Great choice of material also. Y'all have been complimenting Jimbeaux on the Queen, but don't forget about the King. King Crimson cut on the CD that is. There is a hauntingly beautiful sound from the Jim on that one. Save a copy for me, I'll pick one up in St Louis !

Graham Bland in addition to be a whiz on computer graphics, sound and who knows what all is also an accomplished steel player...keep up the good work Graham.

Jim, your work speaks for itself. Great tunes and great sounds.

Donna, thanks for revealing my long history of stalki... um, I mean, "following" the Queen. Someone wrote me recently to congratulate me on the new CD and to ask if I'd received any orders yet from Buckingham Palace. Well, it's about time. I thought you were becoming lazy for a while. And what's with these clips! There is only part of a song. Why would I buy and album with only parts of a song? So, I guess, keep up the good work.

I won't be up on the Mississippi for Labor Day weekend, I have to labor, so how about some Italian off Broad somewhere on Sept. 8th?

Sure, why, not share some Italian broad on September 8th. If she's willing, I'm willing!

Hey Dave,

Glad you found the tone acceptable. I used my Fessenden D-10 (just the E9 neck on this CD), through a Hilton volume pedal, into the studio's tube preamp (sorry, don't know the make/model), then into the board, where we added reverb and a touch of delay and, of course, EQ. I did not play through an amp. (I know this is supposed to be a cardinal sin, but now my 'Secret of Acceptable Tone' is out; Look Ma, No Amp!). Other than that, I used a Proco Rat for the distortion solo on "I Only Want to Be with You" and an eBow for the middle section of "Epitaph".

p.s. Oh yeah, on "Time of the Season", that's Dan Kleiman aspirating.

I'm a little late, here, Jimbeaux, but the sound bytes were just outstanding. The tone, still, is to die for.

Plus, you have a great knack for throwing in all the little subtlties of the melody as found on the originals - especially "A Whiter Shade Of Pale" - the lyrics seem to "talk" in places; almost like no melody, or a suspended type melody - but you capture that. Cool! A bit hard to explain.

I'll be ordering from your website in short order.

I got the entire album today in the mail, and seriously, I was taken aback by the great playing, the arrangements, and most of all, the memories of when those songs were all part of the ambience of my world.

"The soundtrack of my life," as Jimbeaux told me.

"Whiter Shade of Pale" brought me to tears, no lie. I didn't realize I had such an emotional attachment to that song. Bill Martin, the pianist in Linda Ronstadt's band during my time there, turned me on to Procol Harum's first album, their best IMO. 1968 must have been a good year for me.

This is one of the finest albums of steel guitar music to come out in years, IMHO. And I don't say things like that lightly.
