Ahh, pickups
We've all been there, on that search, the never-ending search, removing strings, removing the old pickup, feverishly installing the replacement, anticipating sonic nirvana when we plug in to the amp, only to have it sounding no different than the countless other pickups that have been in the steel, then a downer for a few days, then you hear about a new pickup, you've got to have it, christ, it's the best thing since sliced bread, it'll be different this time, ad infinitum
Sounds Good To Me

David I for one thought the George L. 10-1 sounded good.
I liked it way better than the Telonics, as good as, (in a different way) the BL 705
The BL 705 and the George L. 10-1 are both winners with different tone one from another. Either on sounds good to me.
Hey, bottom line is its your ears buddy that it has to please, and if your happy I'm happy.

I have the Telonics 409 on both necks of my Zum Hybrid and it is outstanding - I have found the perfect pickup for MY guitar finally
PS: I had Trutones on it originally and have tried the Telonics 84 and 206 as well on this guitar.

I recently installed a Telonics 427, [the 12 string version of the 409 in my Carter. About the same time, I put a Telonics speaker in my Tommy Huff cab. The combination is very, very good. The only other pickup that came close, [on my guitar] was the George L 12-1, and I have tried most of them.

Thats very interesting... So if it wasn't for you having a 12 string, you would be comparing Telonics 409 with a George L 10-1. This is exactly my findings to.. And more importantly you quoted..."on my guitar"... which we should understand.
Thanks George, that's much appreciated.
Hope your steel isn't looking too "butchered" with the pup changes...
