I have to admit I would love to know where I could get "tortoise shell" like that pickguard in the photos. |
Italy, but there's lots of importers:
thanks for that, David,

I have a guitar=porn picture book called "Electrified" by Robert Shaw that has a couple of Mike DeTemple's guitars that he built for Kirk Hammett, with "custom Italian celluloid tortoiseshell pickguards" that look a lot like that. And there's been a few versions of the Hohner Telecaster "copy guitar" used by Prince that have a very similar pattern. You can buy any wood, plastic, and pickups you want - it's what you DO with 'em.... that book also has a very, very lovely six-string guitar by Mr. Walker that he built for Steve Kimock, with ultra-custom Jason Lollar/John Cutler electro-tidbits. |

I'm going to go to Kimock's place to check this steel out. Looking forward to it. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

He's a PA kid, right? When he's not SF-ing.... I didn't know that steel (or a version) was for him, but it doesn't surprise me. He's a fiend on non-pedals, though I thought he would want a eight or even ten. Now THAT would set me to oiling up the machine gun, re-blocking my fedora & practicing my Bugsy Siegal bankrobber lines...
(tho practicing might work better)
