Hook,

That guitar is stunning! You must be enormously proud of it! It looks like new. I wonder what Buddy is playing now???

I can't imagine you ever wanting to sell it, but if you do, put my name on the top of the list!! :)

Thank you Rick !!!

Thank you Don. You're right, it would have to be a desperate situation before I would let the guitar go. The guitar means a lot to me because Buddy let me have it but the bonus is it is a great guitar and sounds great too ! :):)

A few years ago I got the black '76 Emmons Tommy White played on the Hot Tips / Cool Licks DVD. It had also been owned by Forum-ites Jim Cohen and Gary Walker, from whom I got it. Later I got a welded frame MCI that Frank Carter had re-done for JayDee, a forerunner of his wonderful Infinity instruments. Not all that surprisingly, neither has ever sounded as good as they did with their previous owners.

I heard Buddy play that Zum at Dallas 3 or 4 or maybe 5 years ago and was in total awe at the tone and it had such a clear and crisp tone, clear as a bell.

Zum

I have Buddy Emmons 2006 Zum. He played this at the show in St Louis in 2006. The first guitar I ever saw played in person.

I have Hal's 96 black & teal Zum and Curly's black MCI and Sho-Bud Single channel amps one of Jay Dee's Emmons LLIII that was Bob Delaloye's when he passed. Also on loan to me from his sister is Tommy Morrell's S10 C.W. guitar. I'm very honored to have these great instruments.

I'd love to know who played the 1974 student model Emmons I used as my first steel...it was built in '74, a few years before I was born-I got it in 1999 for Christmas. Since then, I couldn't help but wonder who played it before me.

Is that the steel Buddy Emmons had named "Black Bart"? If it is, I saw it in 2002

That's right Brett. It is the Black Bart and it looks and plays like the day it was built. I am so amazed at how Buddy plays these guitars so much yet keeps them in the great condition he does. Sad part is, none of the talent came with it.

I'm guessing Neil has Ben Keith's Emmons S10. And that he'll never let anyone else ever play it.

Johnny,

If you're coming to the show in Dallas, is there any chance you could bring Hal's Zum for any set you might be playing? Would love to see the guitar. Thanks.

Wow, Bill Keith's black wraparound with the great sticker! Talk about instantly identifiable. My first instruction book was Winnie's and I remember seeing that guitar in it.

Yes, it's found a very good, loving home here in Oregon :D

I've had a couple of very interesting conversations with Bill Keith about some of the history associated with this guitar. Thank you, CrowBear for your assistance in helping me acquire this treasure.
Best regards,
Lynn Stafford
