Nope , cannot forget Doug, He IS the man. The better I get, the better my Stage One sounds. I love the sound of his pickup, and I was not a humbucker fan. I use an EHX Knockout Attack pedal which actually can make your humbucker sound and react like a single coil. It workls extremely well for this application, not so much trying to get your single coil like a humbucker, but who want to do that?
But I use that pedal with Doug's guitar and it sound fantastic, very Sho-Bud through a Fender amp. I like being able to go back and forth between single coil and humbucker tone. When I first opened up the case, and put it together, the sucker was in tune. And I spend very little time tuning each week. I play roughly 2 hrs a day and I am not easy on the levers or pedals, I'm not attacking the guitar, but it is withstanding the rigors of a newby's clumsy attempts at Mooney pedal work, so that right there will tell you something. I will never sell this guitar.
Is ZUM stage one a good buy ?

Hi James, Electro-Harmonix makes it. It's one of their oldest designs, but they reissued it a few years ago. You can find out more at their site...http://www.ehx.com/products/knockout. Sounds really good with the pickup on the Stage One.

Stage one just arrived Hmmm
Just unpacked my new S-1 in red from Doug,I know he is a turbine engineer by trade ( I also was a power station elect/mech. engineer) it seems well built for the price, more care in finishing some of the metal work needed (razor sharp edges on pedal bar)Doug, he actually persuaded me away from the encore as a starter player so he is not out to make money from punters, a plus point. I am sure that when I have modded it to my liking it will be a keeper.
added- Well a couple of days on and I have tuned it and set it up and it is everything I hoped it would be.
The stability of it is remarkable(having nursed a lloyd Green for a while) in a band I had, Doug answered my comments about edges right away and took it on-board.Maybe the lottery will bring me a Legrande but till' then this will do nicely.

Hi Robert, Thank you for your interest and email too . Iam impressed with all you have said on the guitar. How does it perform in regards to your old Shobud - in sound, tone and handling. I know there is a big difference in weight which is a massive pro facter for the S1. Do you prefer it too the old classic ? YOURS AYE JAMES TAYLOR SCOTLAND
