Mike, I live in a fairly roo-ral area and metric screws and stuff are no problem. You just gotta find that dark, dusty old-fashioned hardware store with wooden bins full of every fastener imaginable, not the bright shiny chain store.

Hello again from Serbia. In terms of prices I think that PROMAT,which is being made here in Novi Sad,Serbia is very affordable steel guitar for anyone
who wants to play steel.I mean that :
Standard professional series
S-10 3+4= 2.520,oo EUR
S-12 3+4 = 2.910,oo EUR
SD- 10 3+4 = 2.720.OO EUR
D-10 8+4 = 3.68O,OO EUR
and
Standard professional economy series
SE-10 3+4 Narrow 1.780,oo EUR
SE-10 3+4 2.250,oo EUR
SE-12 3+4 Extended E9 2.450,oo EUR
DE-10 8+4 3.150,oo EUR

is not too much money for that what you get .
First I own and play S-12/my first steel guitar/which for beginer is something awesome. And then after that guitar,I buy D-10 which is my long
time friend for 20 years. As I said for that money you get so much quality.Beside that I had a chance to play economy model which is not far from proffesional level. And of course, price is very reasonable.

That's what I was referring to earlier. I was concerned about finding metric replacement parts. Even though I live in one of America's biggest cities, I wouldn't know where to find them. (I'm sure somebody must have them and I'd find them if I looked.)

Mirko, could you give us the Promat prices in U.S. Dollars?

Mike,

Lowes, HomeDepot and ACE Hardware have metric screws. Allen cap screws for splits, bell cranks and levers are there. In addition in San Diego there is Marshall's Hardware that has a mind boggling selection of screws. They also sell online and will sell you one screw if that's all you need.

This is good to know, for a lot of reasons.

I usually go to the local mom and pop hardware store. I want to see my money go to people who use it to pay their living expenses, and not some big corporation. But if it's necessary, I'll go to a chain store.
