Adding my thanks to the Swain Family for putting up with our invasion of their lovely home...
John's daughter came downstairs at one point and was surveying the proceedings (a semicircle of 9 PSG rigs)... one of us (I forget who) asked her something like "what do you think of all this?"; her reply "My dad has more friends than I do..."
It got really good later in the afternoon after we played all the licks we knew and started playing the ones we didn't
Jimbeaux, we missed you.

John,
Sorry to have missed your Jam. I will be there next time. Had a rehearsal in the afternoon and went to see Dale Watson and the Lonestars in NYC last night. Got to talk steel with Don Pawlak. By far the best Honky Tonk Experience of my life!
Hey Bob G,let me know where your playing!

Thanks to the Swain's for putting up with us. I got there late, and from that food description that was a big mistake. It was good to meet the Jersey steelers. They turned out to be a little older and way better than I expected (what was I thinking?). I was one of the slow-hand novices. It was fun to hear some fancey licks and check out all the equipment.
I had a great time, as did everybody, obviously. Xtreme thanks to John Swain and his family. Also thanks to Jeremy S. for letting me plink on his Emmons, and to the guy who brought the lap steels (Ron V. ?), and thanks to everyone for putting up with me. I sounded worse, yet was less nervous than I could have expected. The claritin may have helped but this was a really nice group.
