Alan,
I agree with you, Al had a lot of years playing steel back when it was not the instrument it is today and he was always trying new things and tweaking his set up.
In the few precious years we were friends he was a treasure house of information. Always ready to talk steel guitars at the drop of a hat. If this steel could only talk..Fred

Al Marcus Sho Bud Price Drop..

Post by Fred Welch »

I have permission from the family to bring the price of the Sho Bud down to $1700.00 and they will pay the shipping, if there is anyone out there who is interested, before they close the post.
This is a cool guitar and has the set up Al developed for the E9th to be able to play the 9th and the 6th sounds on the same neck..
It sounds to me like he nailed it.

Fred/All:

If I can sell my Clinesmith 8 and custom Mark Roeder stand, I'll buy the Al Marcus Sho-Bud. I thought I was "done" wth pedal steel, but Al's guitar and approach to playing have lured me back in. Posting my stuff shortly.

This is really a unique instrument, with Al's setup. Good luck with the sale Fred. I'm kicking myself for not digging up a couple coffee cans of cash from the backyard on this one. But it's going to a good home.

Payment has been made. Now it's just a lifetime of practice and playing to approach Al's contributions to steel guitar...
