Michael,
The 6140 you referenced earlier that belongs to Geoff Cline- that's the one I bought.
I don't know the serial number off the top of my head but I can get it to you for your database.
Mine looks different from the pics that MLA posted (Thanks MLA) My pedals are on the left side, not centered as in the brochure.
Does that still mean it's a 6140?
Two hole and barrels....I didn't see any other holes in the bottom the last time I looked....
If you look at the pics in the ad you referenced, I think it shows how the pedals are aligned.
I have it C6, I LOVE the sound of this guitar...I think I may want the E9 version also....they just have that sound
Jay

Here's some examples of two hole pullers we make. This is one of my project guitars.
Two hole pullers were the "up-grade" from racks:

Tom, You can put on one pullrod as many barrels as you have pedals/levers to pull with, thus the infinate. Barrels behind two-hole pullers OR racks--same difference.Tom Wolverton wrote:In theory (ignoring friction), aren't R&B changers infinite raises and lowers? But my guess is that 2-hole pullers with barrels are not. Is this true?

John, They have to have a gap between barrel and rack, or two-hole pullers. No difference. Think of two-hole pullers as "miny racks".
Don't be fooled by my picture of the two-hole pullers, that guitar is not finished and setup and adjusted yet.

Howdy Jay,
Looks like yours, #5074, was built about 02/18/1974.
Check for a signed builders tag for me. I have everything else.
Skip and John, my thanks for all the pictures!
John, I didn't get the year for the Black and white, 4&0, with the fuzzy finish.......Does it have a Tru-Tone in it??

Thanks James. My D-10 Professional is up and running just fine. That R&B system ain't bad at all. It's staying in tune nicely too. Thanks for all your advice and the great hardware. Ditto to: Michael Yuhl, James Palenscar, Rick Schmidt and Frank Sprague. It took a village to get it going. Shall I post photos?

The other day I had the chance to play a friend's first-gen LDG with barrels & 2 holers. It's amazing how smooth these old Buds play, not to mention how cool they sound.
And yeah, barrels & 2 holers share the same changer as rack & barrels, so they both have the unlimited pull feature. Compensating micropulls, too.
Very cool gtrs...

ShoBUd 6140 questionb
Michael, Thanks for helping me date my 'Bud to a '73. THe brochure I have is the same one that Skip posted I guess from '72. It's kinda funny how time makes remembering dates a little sketchy at times. John, you have some beautiful 'Buds there! I love the old 'Buds especially the single necks the best too!
