I lost about 55 pounds five years ago (210 to 155). The weight is still off, but with the weight I also appear to have lost my sense of humor. Life is very curious.

Congratulations to all the guys who have lost weight because they needed to. I'm down 15 pounds from my highest of 230, and have 15 more to go to reach my goal of 200. I know how tough it is.
Those of you who want to gaim weight; I've got some excellent suggestions. One of them starts with "B" and ends with "Q".

When I retired in 2006, I weighed 250. My blood pressure was a little high, so I decided to lose weight. This morning I weighed 185.5. The blood pressure is good and I feel much better. All I did was change my eating habits, less meat, few deserts, lots more fruits and vegetables. I have also tried to be a little more active. I want to lose about 5 more lbs. It can be done if you look at it as a long term project.

Lemonaid out of lemons
After ballooning to 270lbs I just grew a beard bought a red suit and made a website. I am much in demand in December!

I now ride a Harley everyday and have lost 10lbs in two weeks. I would like to be lean again and give up the Santa gig. The ladies do dig the beard though.

I started out about 4 months ago at 235 lbs. and I now weigh in at 202 lbs.
Although I've lost 33 lbs. I still have another 22 lbs. to loose to reach my goal of 180 lbs. And I will make it by, well, Thanksgiving I'm shooting for.
So far I've cut my cholesterol meds out altogether, cut out my blood pressure meds altogether, cut my diabetes meds in half.

I go back and forth from relatively normal weight to tens pound over. This all depends on my willpower food-wise. Being overweight is a lifestyle choice. Sometimes I just wanna enjoy indulgent food and lay around; other times I enjoy salads and being active. It's hard to be vigilant all the time. A balance is best. But if you don't even try, you're doomed.

That's a misconception. I gained about 90 pounds after my 2002 bicycle accident, as a result of being unable to move around for 18 months. (For those who don't know, among other things, I fractured my spine. Fortunately the spinal cord itself was not injured so I'm not paralyzed.) I've recovered from the injuries themselves, but have been unable to lose the excess weight, despite repeatedly trying.Chris LeDrew wrote: Being overweight is a lifestyle choice.

Apologies, Mike...I should have said "in normal circumstances." What I was trying to say was that too many otherwise healthy people blame metabolism and hormones on weight. And this is not coming from a skinny person. I'm not judging, just speaking on experience. The better I eat, the less i weigh. Not the less I eat, because we all know that it's quality not quantity when it comes to food and weight.
