We now are needing back up musicians...Carson Wells won't be able to attend so there goes our bass player and we hope any of our players with other talents like bass, rhythm guitar...drums, keyboard, fiddle etc. will bring their talents out and help us.
Don't forget anything you may want to sell, trade, or swap bring with you..your cds will be fine...just nothing that eats or grows...jr

Here we go again with our back up band. Thanks to Kenny Groman we have a bass player and possibly drummer, and a fiddle player. We do still need the back up BIAB that Ken Metcalf (AUSTIN STEEL GUITAR CO-OP) is so kind to bring for insurance. Admission is free but a donation box or can will be available for donations to offset the expense of the hall.
We hope to have Roger Edgington if his time permits. He is playing Saturday night and he might not be able to make it by Sunday afternoon. Kenny Groman said Friday he is looking to attend and he also said Randy Reinhart may come out.
Looks to me like a good turnout for the first time and a good time will be had I'm sure. Once again the VFW will let us start setting up at 1pm with the jam starting at 2pm. We are scheduled for 2pm til 5pm but if we have enough players and fun we can probably stretch it longer.
If you do have anything to trade, sell, or show off please bring it Cds, steel guitars, guitars, amps etc. will be fine. Please keep it to our interests and nothing that eats or grows or illegal.
As you drive through the gate at the VFW go straight ahead to the right side of the building to the side door and I'll be there at 1pm to make sure the door is open. The VFW canteen will be open for your favorite beverages at a reasonable cost, but no food will be served.
Formal address is Helotes VFW Post #7108, 8795 FM 1560, San Antonio, Texas 78254. Call my cell if you have a problem finding the jam session..210-254-5299...jr

I had to post a pic of Randy Reinhard's drummer.
They did a Jazzy set and the Styrofoam beer cooler snare really had the Jazz brush sound in the most excellent fashion!!
Good turn out with 10 steels set up... not bad for the first time...
I would keep your eye on this jam as one to check out.

Thank you Ken. You helped make this first jam session a great one. 10 steel guitar players and 2 outstanding players by the names of Roger Edgington and Randy Reinhart played. Big Thank Yous go to them for attending.
We had of course Ken Metcalf from Austin and Dave Goodman from San Antonio, Bill McCumber from Alice, Owen Barnes from Utopia, Reggie Amos from Burnet, Tim Donnally from Wimberly, David Jones from Bulverde and myself at the very very end of the jam. Quite a turnout for steelers. We even had Brian Folks pick some.
We had Patti Wood doing a fine job on vocals and bass, Fred Kennedy on bass at times and vocals, Ken Metcalf on steel, rhythm and vocals, and Nancy our fiddle player.
Another Thank You to Randy Reinharts bass player, Gerald Connell, and the man with the styrofoam drum Bob Scarbrough. The Helotes VFW Post 7108 was very good to us and we Thank the Commander Tom Davis and his staff.
I'm not going to mention David Jones, Ronnie Bennight, and Brian Folks for their help...they told me not too...
Our next jam session will be June 26th. This is the 4th Sunday of the month account of Fathers Day being June 19th.
