Re: Jim is a BIG Man
Hi, Tony ... the pleasure was all mine. I really enjoyed visiting and talking with you. I was really glad to get those strings I was trying off my guitar and a set of Ernie Ball back on it. What amazed me was how Mike Mantey, when he saw I was starting to change my strings, came over with that drill of his ... zip, zip, zip and the old strings were off, then zap, zap, zap and the new ones were on ... and when I put the guitar on the tuner I was amazed at how close they were to being in tune (only a few cents sharp or flat from being right on). Carl Kilmer sent me a very nice track for a Vince Gill tune called "Kindly Keep It Country", so I'll see if I can get that one up for you pretty soon.Tony Tims wrote:I have seen Jim on YouTube, but never had the chance to meet him until this weekend at the Jamboree. I would like to personally thank him for allowing this newbie the chance to hang out, ask questions, and watch him work on his guitar. Hopefully he will post a new video soon with his newly installed strings. Thanks again.

Hi, Bill ... I, too, would like to meet you someday. I think we could have some great fun visiting, talking and perhaps a bit of steel playing. If you're ever here in the Arlington area with a little time on your hands, you're more than welcome to drop by the house for a cup of coffee and a visit.Bill Mayville wrote:Hi Jim

Thanks for the well-wishes on my recovery. In a nutshell, what happened is that I fell off the roof of my house and was injured badly (part of which involved some devastating nerve damage in my right arm and hand). The recovery is steady but slow and my hand has its good days and bad days ... on the good days I can almost sound a bit like my old self again; on the bad days, well, even the simplest tunes are difficult at best to try to play.
It's funny you mentioned harmonicas. While I was loading my stuff from the parking lot to the Mullen room at the Dallas show I thought to myself, "It's time like these that I wish I'd taken up harmonica."

Take care, have a great day and God bless.
