A bender Jr for around 1K is a lot of steel for the money. Also very cool that you have a ready to go upgrade package for existing Jr owners.

J The guitar Red was/is using is the Asher T-deluxe...I've got one and can tell you first hand that it is one sweet guitar. It has a filter selector on it which allows you to dial in many more tones that a typical tele and the neck and fretboard feel worlds above the average tele.

Bought a chinese tele copy, raised the nut with bone less than a hundred bucks,play blues with it through a Boss D-S 1. Sounds just as good as one ten times as much. YOU BETCHA,DYK?BC.

Are you guys saying that Red's red sparkle Tele with the bone logo on the head is an Asher?

No disrespect intended, but I want to hear the Chinese tele that sounds as good as an American G&L. I do think the cheap teles sound awfully good and are a lot of bang for the buck.

Bill builds wonderful guitars! I have a double bender on my Tele, but,,, if I'm lookin' to play steel with benders, I sit down with my Kline, or my Shobuds.

Redd would sound great playing a 2x4 with one string! He has many Tele-type guitars. The Asher is as an fine a new Tele-style instrument as you'll find.

This is the guitar I've seen Redd use in the last year. Maybe he just happened to use it the times I saw him play.
What I thought was a dog bone looks more like an H (or a barbell) in the photo.
The other gentleman in the picture is a New York illustrator/animator.

That's a Hahn Tele - http://www.hahnguitars.com/ - another great builder who probably doesn't earn half of what he deserves..

A grand for a lap steel w/bender is a more than fair price.
Like I said in my other post-I am all for people getting paid for the work they do....

let us not forget the coolest 'do it yourself' lap with pedal 'and knee lever' from dave wren...i bet he didn't spend $2500 and got exactly what he wanted.







jay..sorry..missed your call while i was on the can!

I fitted the Duesenberg Mulibender to an SX lap steel. It took about 5 minutes ...longer than it took to change the strings.

It gives it a lot more flexibility and I can play a lot of pedal steel licks.


I wish they would make an 8-string version.
