There are just to many people to thank for the tremendous success of the SWSGA show, including all the players from all over the US and England, the back-up bands, all the vendors, the wonderful help we had in preparing for the show, the members and non members that pitched in to help during the show, all the wives and husbands who are just as dedicated to the steel guitar as we are, the folks at Holiday Inn for all their help and cooperation, the sound crew and Milano's Music in Mesa AZ for providing such a great sound system. Most all of you have been mentioned in previous posts and I am so proud that the Lord has given me the opportunity to spend and share this quality time with each and everyone of you. The show could not have been successful without you. We have all learned a lot from this and have already come up with ideas to make next year's show even better, that is if better is possible.

I would like to give special thanks to Tommy Dodd for setting up my new Zum and getting it ready for my set. Tommy, you the man. I couldn't have done it without your help and encouragement.

Let me jump in here to second everything that has been said. This show was a huge success and very enjoyable.

Thanks to Billy, Fred and Troy and all the wives, staff, band and others who made this such a great show. Everyone involved with the show and all the other folks I met and dealt with in the Phoenix area couldn't have been any nicer. I'm already looking forward to next year!

All the players were great, the vendors were terrific and Bruce Zumsteg was even kind enough to work on an old Sho~Bud I brought along.

If you didn't attend this year make your plans now to attend in 2005 -- before the show is sold out!

Hello Everyone!

Just thought I'd add my two cents about the great SWSGA show. Vanetta and I had a wonderful time. Beautiful weather, meeting up with old and new friends, and terrific players made Arizona's steel show an event I plan to keep attending. I hope that doesn't put any of you off! :-) But I would recommend that you start making plans to get to next year's show, it shouldn't be missed. Thanks to Billy, Troy, Fred and their hard working Mrs's. Everything seemed to run very smoothly and that's a testiment to hours and hours of planning. You done good! :-)

I'd also like to welcome aboard 6 new MSA Millennium owners. Half of them joined the MSA family in sunny Arizona! Yep, I'd say it was a VERY successful show! I think I'll shave my head to celebrate this huge success! Y'all have my support for SWSGA part 2!

Fred,David and I went out in the parking lot, what a mess.Right away I got a real strong headlock on his arm, then I very cleverly wedged my thumb beteween his teeth, then I threw him down on top of me,he's got teeth marks all over his boots. Also, I just literally tore his fist up with my face.Sure hope he heals fast!!!

Wow!......it was really a great show. Closer for me to get to from Seattle also. I really enjoyed the diversity in the playing. Country stuff was great and the jazz, swing and off mainstream music was a REAL treat. Lots of players I've never gotten to hear before. I hope you keep up on that idea. You're battin a thousand so far. Great job by the organizers!!!

THANK YOU

Hi, We want to say thank you Fred, Billy, Troy , Brenda, Meriul, and everyone for inviting us, and making us feel so welcome. We enjoyed ALL the great and talented Steel Players. We also enjoyed the chance to visit with so many old and new friends. We are still amazed at how far the Steel Guitar has advanced over the years. We want to thank the guys in the band Roy, Paul, Ben, and Leon, as always, they are the best. And a special thanks for to Troy for playing Bud's Bounce" Great job. We are sorry that Gary and Patti Black could not come as we planned. Maybe they will get there next year. Again thank you so much. Love ya'll, Bless you, Bud and Geri

Fred, just a note to thank you, Billy and Troy for having me and Barbara in Mesa for what was a super show. I am very proud to have been a small part of this event. The show was organized and run superbly. All of the stage help, the sound people and certainly you, Billy and Troy and all of your organizations efforts to keep the show on time were certainly appreciated by not only myself and the other members of the band, but surely by all of the wonderful people who attended. The room was full at every session and those in attendance were so very gracious and appreciative of all of the steel players and staff band members efforts which made it so much easier to want to do "our very best" for this great group of folks. Your organization is "first class" and we were treated as such and as though we "belonged". Barbara and I are looking forward to next year, hopefully with The Lord's blessing we can come back to the great southwest and be a part of this great SWSGA show.
We are also looking forward to seeing you, Brenda, Billy, Murial and hopefully Troy and his wife in Dallas.
Warmest regards,
....Roy and Barbara

It's been almost a week and we're still flying high with great memories. We met some for the first time but seeing dear friends like Billy and Meriul is like having a family reunion. I don't blame some for staying over a few days extra because the Valley really shines this time of year. It takes a real trouper to come back in June and July. Now Roy, I've been to Texas in the summer and I know what can happen in the winter like black ice. Phoenix is fairly free from tornados, baseball size hail stones, 95 percent humidity with 95+ temp and lightning bugs and all those Lone Star state things but I'm listening to the CD "Heart of Texas Band" right now and Texas has the "music." Never mind how Phoenix can hit 120+ in June like 1990, we sure would love to have the amount of Texas music you have but we're gaining. As long as you and Barbara and others from the Lone Star state come, bring all music with you so we can drink it in. And if you don't come, I may not be able to get Christine to make the trip again.
[This message was edited by Gary Walker on 21 January 2004 at 09:06 PM.]

[This message was edited by Gary Walker on 21 January 2004 at 09:15 PM.]

Fred: So sorry I could not attend the show. We were really looking forward to it but a week before the show, my wife Barbara had an emergency run to the hospital. She went in the severe pains in the chest and back, stayed for 3 days and had several test. All is well thank God, but it sure gave us a scare. I felt the trip would be too much for her. I know you all had a great time, I sure would have loved to see Bud Isaacs as he is one of my heroes. Maybe another time....I hope so. Thanks for the invitation and keep me in mind for next year.

Fred,Brenda,Troy,Peggy,Billy, Muriel, and others that I am sure to miss naming, thanks so much for a great week in Arizona. It was very exciting for me to see how succesful you guys were with your first show especially having some first knowledge of how hard you guys worked. Everything from the accomodations, to the music, to your hospiality was outstanding.

The couple of days I spent with you guys and your wives earlier in the week was very special to Carolyn and I. How you guys relaxed and pulled that three day jam off at your homes so close to the show time blows my mind. I am afraid I would have made a poor host under such circumstances....Not You Guys and Gals!!!!

Sorry to be so long responding about the show. Had a hard drive crash and had to stop by the local library to use a computer.
