Michael,

Your prices seem very reasonable, where do I send the check?

A lot of studios still use tube mics. You get a great sound out of them. If you're after the old sound you have to do it the old way. The good studios still offer you these options and I have exercised these options myself in the past, even tho it wound up costing a bit more.

...and try to record on (analog) tape as opposed to digital (protools, garageband etc) if you are after that extra bit of warmth.

I've also used tube mics whilst recording. You can sense the air moving with them. Digital recordings can be aided by sending the final mix to a tape deck. I have an Ampex Ax 50 that I've goofed around with. Then send the output of the tape recorder back to digital. Warms things up nicely.

Michael Lee,
Got anything on the Gibson BR-1? When I went to Gibson in Chicago 35 years ago, and asked for a schematic, they laughed at me. But they did find a hand-drawn schematic.

The Hoffman amp site has quite a few Gibson schematics as well as others.
There was a site called schematic heaven, but it's been down for a month or so.
