i think you'll see sho-buds and push/pulls forever!

but i finally agree with herb. msa set the mechanical design/function bar back in the 70's and aside from slight refinements by newer builders not much has changed. it's like improving the telecaster.
Unless you step up to the Excel, Whitney, Lamar and Anapeg et al caliber.

These guitars are not your average run of the mill.

Those are your opinion of not being "run of the mill". I consider my Franklin as not being "run of the mill" but it's my opinion. In reality Herb is right they are all derivitives of the MSA.

I totally agree. When MSA introduced the Classic series in '73, they were radically different from anything else on the market - which were all radically different from each other at the time.

Today, the undercarriages and changers of most, if not all steels bear more than a slight resemblance to the Classic MSA.

Even Sho-Bud and Emmons got on the bandwagon with the SuperPro and Legrande models, and I think that even the later models of ZB's were similar, as well.

Perhaps in the future we'll see more old Buds being played, thanks in part to the efforts of people like James Morehead and John Coop.

There's just something about a Sho Bud

Maybe the players valued their Sho Buds to much to take them from the their homes.

Is it my imagination or do people that own Jackson guitars all seem to have been programmed to advertise for them.

Come on guys why is nobody addressing Fred's comment? That's the most important thing after all!! :o

As an aside I had a fellow at my house the other day that was interested in my Sho-Bud Professional, I wasn't really trying to sell it and was busy telling him everything I should have done to it but hadn't yet, the E lower lever was even hanging up and yet he was still almost ready to buy it. Before he left I insisted he pick it up----that did it---too heavy!
Maybe that's why the older guitars aren't seen as much these days?

I owned 3 sho buds.1st was that Fender/Sho Bud of course it was made by SB it was a remarkable little guitar,I think it was superior to Mavericks,Mine Sounded great!,my Second was a Red Pro 1 I put a k lever on it so it had 3 You couldn't keep it in tune with 3 hands. It got Stolen...I then bought a new LDG 1000 it stayed in tune great but one night the POT METAL knee lever hit the floor SPOTLIGHT on ME!.
I sold it back to the Music store I got it from,I had put a Bill lawerence pick up on it,and still could not get any bottom from it,I had an LTD 400 W a Black widow in it,I went to the Converntion and got a Franklin they may be considered over priced but I NEVER EVER laid a tool to it in EVER to this day,I used to play it 3 or 4 nights a week (6 sets)
Love nostalgia but will admire others Sho Buds:)
