It kind of looks like a "semi keyless" 12 string.
The ball ends for the 2nd and 11th strings are at the head end and I guess, they lock into the changer end via the cap screws. I've never seen that, before.

The second and eleventh strings are attached to the two phillips head srews at the front of the tuning pegs in picture three and they are adjusted at the top (in the slot) in picture four using the two Allen screws above the nylon tuners.

Brian: Wow! That IS different! I've never seen anything like that either. Cool guitar, thanks for posting. I had been wondering about the Flynn changer.Does anyone know what made so unique? I've heard it called "backwards".It was different enough he got a patent on it. Like the fretboard, too. It makes more sense for "Rus-Ler" than roses. Anyone know which was "official" or were both used at different times?

I picked a S-12 Rusler last summer & will be selling it this summer to buy a light guitar to take back to Beijing. Love the Rusler but it is a wee bit on the heavy side for me and I need the funds. Sounds good and reminds me of a 1950 USA automobile.
Here are the links to the guitar with photos:

I worked with one of Russ's nephews in Alpine, Az and he helped in the shop in Phx. Mostly talked about the hookers and other folks coming in to the shop to visit. Sort of a social hub I guess. He thought Russ moved to Missouri or Arkansas and might have got himself kilt back there, I dont know. .
In 1977 I was stationed at 29 Palms and knew a young Marine. His name was JD I believe; it was a long time ago. He said the maker of Rus-Ler was his uncle in Phoenix.

This is my S-11 RusLer with 5&4
I bought it new in 1976 and played it regularly until 2003. It's got miles and miles and hours upon hours on it and it still plays and sounds great! Super dependable!
