Mr Seymour is a good guy, and I doubt if he loses a wink of sleep about not being inducted into the SGHOF. I am sure it will happen one day as he has been nominated. I don't blame Herb Steiner for taking the abuse personally. It is out of order.

The only problem with Bobbe is that he can only count up to 8. That's good when it comes to him adding up a deal.

Please clear something up for me, Paul. Just who, specifically, are you calling an "egomaniac," "stupid," an "idiot," and "disgusting?"

Me? Scotty? Bob Maickel? Chuck Lettes? Al Brisco? We're all on the HOF Board, and we're all here on the Forum. Maybe it's not the HOF Board you're referring to, or maybe you just don't have the stones to call us out by name with your snide ass comments?

Usually, when someone insults me, they have the balls to do it to my face.

Ya know, I've personally just about freakin' had it with some of you "champions" of your heroes when complaints about HOF choices wind up being insults to the intelligence and integrity of the Board members. I'm talking not just about this thread, but many others over the years. Whoever taught you people that insulting others will get them to do your bidding did y'all a grave disservice, IMHO.

I'm not speaking for the other HOF Board members, only myself. Personally, snide remarks about my integrity and intelligence piss me off, and I don't particularly feel like being "Forum brother" friendly with the makers of those statements. I recall one incident awhile back when some guy basically said online that I was being bought off with money because his hero hadn't been inducted yet, then he comes up to me at a steel show all friendly like and wonders why I didn't shake his hand and smile the big smile.

Maybe for you, it's okay. But for me, being insulted publicly and apologized to privately just doesn't get it, y'know what I mean? :x

Most of the time, I just let this crap roll off my back, but sometimes the blathering of guys who know so little about the process that they embarass themselves without even realizing it gets to me.

Read Tom Bradshaw's explanation of how HOF inductees are chosen http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=188778

Also, you might check out the Forum rules, paragraph one:
You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not post any material which is knowingly false, defamatory, libelous, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, racist or illegal.

One more thing, Paul. Your hero, who's a good friend of mine and with whom I had shared several meals and many enjoyable hours this past weekend, spells his name "Bobbe." You should at least get THAT right.

BTW, Zane, I don't include you in my rant above. I think you understand the process.
Mr. Steiner,

You are ABSOLUTELY correct. I apologize PUBLICLY for my remarks. To clear it up, I have noticed in other award offerings (Not Steel HOF), such as Movies, Pop Muusic, Theater, Sports an the like have picked some really surprising nominees where hard working troopers were overlooked. I should not have generalized my comment. I totally repect and admire all the accomplished Steel players and regret my shallow remarks. Point well taken.
I want to Steel it all.....

Okay, Paul. Apology accepted.
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Mr. Bying and Steiner, You two guys are the highest quality folks in the world in my humble opinion. I couldn't ask for better friends, Ken, let's take Herb to dinner next time you are both in Nashville, (and make him pay).

Bobbe, I'm afraid that you have the pleasure of my company next April - my seats are all booked for our party of 4 and so is my hire care. 5 whole days in Nashville this time before we move on to Gatlinburg. :)

Dinner for you and Herb would definitely be on me. I could just sit back and listen to you guys talking steel guitar and its players all evening long. (That's if Herb could get a word in edgeways)

Ecstasy !!

Herb you are a straight forward guy who has no trouble saying what's on your mind and expressing your opinion.
In view of that maybe you could give us some insight on what is lacking in Bobbe to keep him out.

Straightforward guy that I am, I'll tell you that we're looking for younger, slimmer, more attractive guys who don't have as much money or experience as Bobbe does. Preferably guys who own no businesses, no more than 3 or 4 cars, and only one airplane.

Does that answer your question? ;)

Seriously, what is discussed at the meetings and the voting of the seven members is kept confidential by agreement of the members of the Board. The ISGHOF is a private corporation and doesn't operate under public scrutiny. I don't know the preferences of the other Board members and I certainly wouldn't divulge how they vote. And I don't feel I have to reveal how I vote to anyone here on the Forum or elsewhere unless I choose to. I suggest you read Tom Bradshaw's several recent posts about the committee and how it arrives at these always very difficult decisions.

Herbie, Is there any chance in the future of the HOF opening up a new catagory for heavey weight players, (not slim)that have several airplanes and a car and Bigsby collection with way too many years of playing experience from L.A. to Norfolk? Possibly an accident prone table saw operator whose biz is being sold to the Nashville steel guitar business allience. Ha! Ha!

I really do feel that a new catagory or two might be nice for some of the "way out" guys that might not fit into the criteria at present.

Just something to think about, :? Naw, never work, Ha!

Robert kissyface.

IMHO, that is the biggest downfall of the ISGHOF.

Being "nominated" really has very little bearing on who is inducted.
doesn't operate under public scrutiny.
Well, IMHO, it should be.

Bobbe Seymour may never be "inducted", although he should have been years ago. In fact, he should be president of the organization, IMHO.

I'm thrilled that my initial post to Bobbe to pay some respect in a public forum has turned out to be such a positive endorsement for the contribution he has made to us all. Well done!
