That can't be Rob Parker, he didn't have on red socks! By the way, John, we have just finished testing the MAPS (mule all pull system)and it looks like we have the bugs out. Now if we can get a Port-a-Potty on the back of the wagon, we'll make it in record time. We have to get Bill there early to MC (mule caretaker?)so we will build in a little "just in case" time. Tommy seems to get there awfully quick, I suspect he's feedin' his mule Varsity hot dogs right before the trip. Those things will get you rocket powered!

Tommy no doubt has installed the License plate in a critical spot on the mules tail to deflect the blast.
Before he installed the license plate he was always seen doing this<a href='

I didn't attend the last Saluda show because Bill wasn't going to emcee. (that ought to earn me some points, huh?!)Of course, why would I need points since I don't play?
. Ok, I didn't go because Tommy and Randy Beavers were riding together, and they were humming "Don't take the Girl" all the way through breakfast.
Seriously, on their way back to Atlanta, Tommy called and said they were just leaving, and they would be stopping to eat. They walked through our front door 2 hours later!!!!!!! I wonder if that taped up box under the bed is full of speeding tickets?
I will be going with him to this one. Sure hope to hear Brett Day sing and play!!!!

Remember
In addition to some great entertainment at a most reasonable price, Buddy and the rest of the Shriners have some pretty good food available at reasonable prices.
The admission is as reasonable as it gets
$5 on Sat night and $10 for Sunday.
There are no $2.00 Sodas there, the last time I was there, they were $.50
The SC Style BBQ is super!!!
As the Willis Brothers used to say "Its Larruping Good"
You won't go broke at this Show and will have some money left over to spend with the vendors that are there.
OK, Roger tells me the MAPS, (Mule All Pull System) is ready, The Georgia Gang is ready, Buddy is ready, Don Helms is always ready, Even Charles Reece is ready and Joe Turner. Woody Ledford, Johnny Thomas, Wayne Stowers, and Smitty (The Great Staff Band)are ready.
Even Herby Wallace is set on dead ready and will have plenty of his fine merchandise there, Tapes, CD's and Courses, plus Hilton Pedals and some great Red thumbpicks, that I highly recommend.
Time to start making reservations, if you already haven't done so.
Another Great Show is coming your way at Saluda
Saluda Steel Guitar Convention, The best kept secret in the south.
I'm a big mouth and keep telling folks about it.

Hey Nobles,
I too have crossed the hot sands about 10 yrs. ago and when I get to the show can I wear my Fez?

Don, let's face it. I've known you for 20+ years and I think you are just plain "chicken".
Now with that said, picking at Saluda will be good practice for your Monday night gig. And yep, we'll toss the porty potty to make room for your axe. Why you can use old Rodge's amp.

Bro Steve
I would email Buddy and ask. I have never seen anyone wearing a Fez at one of the shows, so I don't really know. Wayne has been known to wear a red soda cup on his head, but that doesn't count.<a href='

I'm really lookin' forward to this show because I'm bringing my Emmons, my picks, and my new bar. I'm bringing my Emmons because I'd like to get some new strings put on it. I'd love for everybody at the show to see my Emmons. Brett Day, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel

Don't bring all of that just to show off your guitar and equipment, everyone is anxious to hear you play. You've become one of the more admired steelers around, you get to talk to Buddy Emmons and I really don't need to say that you have overcome adversity to play steel guitar. That makes you a hero in my eyes.
BTW
Don't forget your amp.
That Emmons is good, but not that good.

We all have a good time at this show, meeting new people, seeing old friends, hearing great steel guitar music. What could be better?!?! I just listened to the Don Helms set from this years St. Louis convention (for about the umpteenth time!)and this man will win your heart not only with his masterful playing, but his humor and warm personality as well. Make sure to put this show on your list, it's worth the trip. And yes, John, the mules are getting restless!!!
See you all there,
Roger

Need to get this and the Mules back up at the top.
Sorry to hear about Buddy Walker in the Hospital
This show will no doubt go on as scheduled. I expect that everyone, Charles Reese, Bill Ferguson, Roger Crawford, Larry Moore, Doc Strum, Rob Parker, Herby Wallace, Woody, Johnny, The Two Waynes and all the regulars will take up the slack and carry on if Buddy doesn't get well in time to handle things, but there might not be anybody around to keep this bunch in Check and Lord knows they need constant supervision.<a href='
