Dear Phil,
The Edge-Bands are all done by hand. -- Very Tedious.
The finish is an Epoxy - under Lacquer type formula - more modern and superior to Nitros formulas. It dents but seldom cracks. It also can be repaired - that is an entire new topic and long winded.
The Nitro-Cellulose type formulas are best on Acoustic Instruments, these modern formulas are good for laps and are very durable. My finish materials are LOW VOC Environment Friendly.
This Next Generation Stealth is an end result of over 15 years of serious R&D - hundreds of thousands of dollars - years of break even or loss. All supported by hundreds of wonderful people who have purchased our instruments. WE listen to all of the comments - ideas - concepts- failures - successes and take it all in to our design efforts.
My wife and I are now empty nest-ers , and have re committed our selves to making super affordable lap steels at a professional quality.
Using Ebay as a thermometer --- the clean and not so clean "Vintage" Laps are going for 900 to 1800 dollars.
GeorgeBoards has figured out how to bring in these S8's with all brand new pickups and high tech quality for several hundred of dollars less than 50 year old stuff.
Ya Just Gotta Love It!!
