I am really excited about coming back to this great show as I haven't been in back in several years. My son who works with Wally Murphy in Orlando is trying to talk Wally into coming and playing which would be great if that develops.

Wally Murphy

Post by Herby Wallace »

Well, I just received some great news that Wally Murphy has been added to the show. As many of you know, Wally is one of the finest steel players in the Country and since he lives in Orlando, he has agreed to come and play on the show. This is going to be a real treat as Wally doesn't do very many steel guitar shows anymore and he is bringing a band that he works with to do his special arrangements as only he can do. As I said, my son plays drums with him and the guitar player is a great player from the area named Jeff DeHollander. These guys will also be working with me on the Sunday show. If you've never heard Wally live, you need to experience this as he plays some very involved tunes and arrangements that only he can do. I tell you this show is really shaping up to be a great one, so I hope to see many of you there.

Last time I heard Wally was when he came out with me to a place called the "old Stone inn in Springfield Mass..Where he woke up the jazz crowd and introduced them to Steel Guitar...Old Flying Fingers himself..Herby the last time you played lakeland Doc Peters was visiting with me..Any chance you can kidnap him and bring him down..I don't think he is doing any shows until march in Sevierville. Looks like a great show and the weather is warming up..

I talked to Haywood Wednesday afternoon, just before our club jam, and he is building a stage for the steelers. He said the stage at the hotel is 4 ft high and he is going to put the backup band up on that stage and building a lower stage for the steelers.

I can't believe the way this line-up is developing. I am really anxious to see and hear Wally and the others. Should be a great weekend!

BTW, if you have any questions about the seminar in Lakeland take a look here.

Look forward to seeing everyone in sunny Florida!

How big a fella are you. lakeshrk

Larry, I just tried it and it's gone. The announcement says "Verizon Wireless" so that must have been a cell phone number.

I'll be in Leasberg, Florida on Feburary 7th. I wonder if there would be room for me and my Frypan, Donna Jackson and the Calhoun Twins to get a spot on the show. I don't know who to contact but by now the program is probably alrealy full with no time to spare. Just a thought. Mary and I and my son Tim will be at the Shuttle Launching on Sunday, February 7th and it is at 4:30 am so the rest of the day we have off. It would be good to see so many of my friends especially Wally Murphy. One of my home town buddies. My email address is scotty@scottysmusic.com if anyone wants to contact me. Scotty
