The jam is 5 hours from my house. I will be traveling to Richmond on Friday and spending the night with my brother who will be helping out at the jam. He also sings some great Haggard and Twitty so he knows what to do for a steel player. Kim if you come up and spend the night at our place then we can go up Friday afternoon and jam in Richmond Froday night for a bit then head up to the "Big" jam on Saturday morning. But... if you're getting too old to play that hard just let me know cause I can rent a wheel chair for ya!!!
. Talked to Jim Cohen the other day and short of something keeping him he says he'll be there. Wonder what he will think when he hears me trying to play his rendition of Tara Theme????? HMMMMMM. I have already booked my rooms at the Knights Inn as has the folks that I have invited. I just heard from Bryan Adams and my Emmons will be ready for this jam. WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! Gonna be a great time people....let's have some fun

Ray,
Only 5 hours from your house? Really? Well then . . . I'll have to give you a call and see what we can work out. I have some stuff I really should do Friday but I'm going to see if I can get out of it. Our gig for that Saturday night got mixed up, and if I can get the horse out of the hospital before then and she's okay to leave . . . we'll see how she's doing.
Anyone who hasn't heard Ray and his brother sing all that good ol' country stuff that just BEGS for steel guitar, gather around in Maryland!
Runs in the family!
Sounds like fun -- jam with you boys (and girls) before going to Maryland . . . I can't wait to see your "new" Emmons!
Me too old?!! Ba-ha!!! And what time is too late to call your house 'cause you're already in bed?! LMAO!

He Boo and everyone watch out for the Ray Walker EMMONS I heard him play that stel last night and you all better be ready for this one he played the Hell out of it last night and I have to admit he done one great job on it and if he does'nt get nervous up there with you guys you are going to hear one greatly inproved guy play that Emmons.Sorry I can't make it so I will go and Keep Skip Mertz company Friday night as he is sitting in on Ray's gig and the next night he plays with his band so I will go there also.Have a great time and Ray show them the way Bud.I think I'm kind of up set as he is playing circles around me now.But I'll keep the pressure on and force myself to play.

Geez Sam...I really appreciate the kind words but now I am already nervous cause these guys are gonna be looking for something spectacular. But... I am chompin at the bit to get up there and have a little fun. Yepper Kim....southern Emmons folks gonna meet up with Northern Mullen folks and there's gonna be a steel jam!!!!! Yippie. I think I'm gonna haul up that Mullen as well. The reason is that if those Mullen guys get too hot I'm gonna go over and sit behind mine and hope they don't see me!!!!(hehe). Got a lot more woodsheddin to do this week. All you folks who have been thinking about coming to the Maryland jam and haven't decided just stop thinking and plan on being there. You will find out that you have been missing a great time with these guys. Besides... your wife is tired of hearing those same licks over and over again and we haven't heard you yet. You know what I like best???? No matter how badly I screw up these guys all tell me what a good job I did......welll everybody but Boo!!! That's cause I think he is scared to death deep down inside. My personal thoughts are that Boo Miller is just gettin too old to learn new licks and folks I'm startin to believe that the ole boy is washed up...Kaputz....finished...Hmmmmm I sure hope I haven't started anything here...
...
Boo knows I love him and Folks you can count on hearing that young man rip your heart out with that Mullen..... I am like JoAnn in that I am like a kid at Christmas and can't hardly wait. SEE YOU ALL IN MARYLAND!!!!!!

By the way... Skip Mertz will not be able to make it to Maryland because he has his own gig to play down this way on Saturday night. He was also gracious enough to sit in for me at my Friday night gig so that I would be able to make it...Thanks Skip

I haven't been playing my steel much lately, been concentrating on some songwriting, so my chops are kinda down, but I'm gonna try to make this one.
What's the latest on hotel rates and availibility?
If I make it down, anybody think they can help me enter/program some simple reverbs, delays and reverb/delays in this Lexicon MPX-1 that is so confusing to me?

Hey Harry...glad you're gonna make it down to jam a little and have some fun. Knights Inn in Laurel, MD quoted rates for double/King bed @ 54.85 they have singles as well. Phone number is 301-498-5553. Tell them you are with the Maryland Steel Guitar Jamboree/ code #503. Boo Miller checked out the place and gave it a thumbs up. If by chance they are all full...Holiday Inn which he also checked out is available at about the same. Phone number there is 301-953-2636. Skip Mertz has told me a lot about you....nothing good mind you... but a lot
. Looking forward to meeting you and jamming a bit. As far as those settings are concerned...if one of the guys or gals here can't help you....then it's broke (hehe). See ya there

Man, I just might stand up Rays' band and mine and come up to hear all these guys. The $$ I make Sat. ain't worth missing this one and when I sit in for Ray I get scale ( for every instument I play I get a hot dog) so I try to play some guitar and steel to get me 2
w/chili. Melbas' chili's so good I tell her to keep that skinny red NC hotdog and just put the chili on the roll! Sam, I'll probably have those GL cableswith me.
Harry this would have been a great opportunity to get together. You guys need to encourage Harry play guitar too, he's a Superpicker!
