Buddy Emmons once told me a funny story about this particular subject.....it seems that E was tuning a new axe upstairs @ Sho-Bud and Shot was standing behind him at his bench, observing Buddy as he proceeded quite carefully with adjusting the 3rd string. Just about the time he got the open to pitch and pressed the B pedal, WHAM!!
...it seems that'ol Shot, prankster that he was had dropped a 50 lb. iron plate(called "The Thing")on the floor behind Buddy as his left foot hit bottom, causing him to go all to pieces!!
Buddy says it did serious emotional damage
I guess thats why he's so goosey now about that particular string. I know he hates how I just crank it up and hit the pedal...."oh no!! dont press the pedal!!!" was, I believe, his response the last time I changed one for him. Then he told me the story about Shot... :) Talk about a coronary!

Mike, thats funny. I can just see Shot doing that.
I've had them break before but not like this one. It sounded like a shot gun and felt like it cut my finger off. :P
