I honestly think it would be better to answer Bo's question directly than assume it's some dig on anybody. I'm glad to see some answers finally, but I don't think anybody should bury this thread.
Well said, Dave. This isn't about one manufacturer. It's a question of general interest. I was really surprised by some of the knee-jerk reactions. Bo didn't name anyone in his original post.
I was able to buy knee lever kits from Sho-Bud back in the 70's, and from BMI in the 90's. That's the ultimate parts support, IMHO - selling a kit to add a feature that wasn't even there on the original instrument. Most manufacturers won't go that far.
In some cases, replacement parts for older models are simply not available, even if the builder is still in business. It doesn't make sense to tool up the machinery for a run of obsolete parts with little demand.

I guess since this exact same question was squashed in one of the Rains flame threads and reopened here, It sure seemed directed at Rains.

I have a couple Zums. Whenever I need parts, advice or info Bruce has always been there. Never a problem whatsoever.

I only identified the Rains company as a possibility for the unidentified company after it was proven wrong by a consumer who ordered parts from Rains and received them with no problem.
Rains is a company that sells parts for "do it yourself repairs".
I felt that it was important to clear that up. My topic guestion was sincere and was in no way intended to be a knock on any company.
The Rains Company and Rains players showed a lot of class dealing with this whole can of worms and I had no doubts that Rains could stand tall in any kind of test brought forth here on the Forum.
As for me I'm sure most on the Forum realized I shoot myself in the foot from the my first reply on the matter as my son so amply portrayed in his Lone Ranger Cartoon.
I would still like to hear about other PSG builders.
