Alabama Show

Jim, Sorry you wont be able to make Show. If you got a paying gig, you have to play it in this economic recession. You will be missed! Bill

Hey friends,

Just a couple more weeks. Don't let it sneak up ya withouth makin' your plans to be in Alabama. Bill Cook and the Alabama Gang always put on a great show, and I know this one will be no exception.

Early this morning, I was trying to get some work done on the computer while I listened to Mike Johnson's CD. Big Mistake. I just couldn't get my focus off the great music so something had to give. You guessed it, I'll do the work later. Folks, if you don't have a copy of this one, get it at the Alabama show. I'll bet Mike will have a few copies with him.

Well, I'd better get to that work I was talkin' about. See ya soon.

Friday Jam

Post by Bill Cook »

Ken, Friday Jam is definitely on. Starting time will be when enough musicians arrive. I expect it to start around 3.30 or so. And Yes, Mr. Johnson does plan to attend. People better be ready to hold on to their socks because if it is anything like last year you will leave having heard some of the best music ever played. This is where the guys can let it all loose and have fun. Last year Mike Johnson and Don Lynch put on a clinic. The best picking I have ever heard bar none!!

Surprise

Post by Bill Cook »

The Surprise is real!!!!!!!!!!!! This show will be dedicated to Bill Simmons. Bill sent his tracks to back up band leader Woody Ledford shortly before suffering his brain bleed for the band to be ready. Tommy Dodd, Jeremy Draubaugh and Joe Turner will be playing Bill's Set for the Show. With the talent of these three guys, you don't want to miss this. These friends of Bill and the ASGA voluntered to do this for Bill. Having Tommy from Georgia, Joe from South Carolina and Jeremy from Alabama speaks volumes for the love and respect for Bill Simmons. I am sure there will not be a dry eye in the place. Thanks guys for what you will be doing. Bill

I am humbled and honored that i was considered for this. I think Bill Cook is right there wont be a dry eye in the house. This is one of those times that you really see how much of a family the steel guitar community is, it goes much deeper than the music.

Those who have not made up their minds whether to come to the show or not, I wouldnt miss it. It is gonna be special and not to mention we are gonna have Mike Johnson and Herby Wallace again and now Tommy Dodd, I cant wait.

May God bless Bill Simmons and the ASGA!

Alabama Show

Post by Bill Cook »

We have just got another volunteer player for the Show. Bill Cunningham from North Georgia will be with us. He will be coming with Tommy Dodd to support Bill Simmons and The ASGA. Thanks very much Bill for what you are about to do. The ASGA has had a very close relationship with The Georgia Steel Association and the Georgia Boys helped get us going. Roger Crawford has been especially helpful by serving as our main adviser. I am sure Roger and a lot more Georgia players would be at the Show if it wasn't for Larry Moore's Wedding Day. Larry has also been a big supporter of our Efforts. We wish Larry, his new bride, and all his many friends a beautiful day and ceremony for his wedding. With all Larry has been through, it is comforting to know that he is happy and living his life again. Good Luck Mr. and Mrs. Moore from all your friends in the ASGA.

For Bill Cook

Post by Ernest Cawby »

Bill Jack Conyer is having Eye surgery on Monday and will have a patch on his eye, for the show so he will not be able to play at this time, Sandra is also scedualed for surgery later on her shoulder after her fall a while back, she is going for a second opinion before it is done.
This sure looks like a king size show in the making
should be one of the best yet. Bringing the new Weenick Guitar, everyone is envited to play it, I am leaving the legs set high so all can play that wants to, will lower it for my shor legs later, the sustain is awsome and the sound is also very good, thru the Peavy 1000.
