Easier to just slide your seat to the left or right, depending on if it's sharp or flat !

Bill....I see you are fairly new to the forum and maybe have some problems in tuning a steel guitar.

A forum search might help you out a lot. This topic has come up a lot of times.
Do a search using the words "tuning" or "Tuning the E9th neck".

8 Pedals and 5 knee levers will set you up for life and is enough to do road-work and or gigs.
The open slot's are for 2 extra pedals. Some players favor 1 or 2 extra on their steel guitar...making it a 9 or 10 pedal and ? kneelever guitar.
If you have any questions about tuning a guitar shoot me a PM through the forum with your e-mail address and I will get you on your way.Make sure you mention what brand guitar you have.

Have you considered sending the younguns back?

I was just kidding! I really can and do tune my own steel. My kids are married and moved away, and I did not get a new steel for Christmas; darn it! I'm still looking for a new pedal steel.

A picking buddy and I were discussing the record of the Statler Brothers', Roadhog and The Cadilac Cowboys, and we tried to imagine Roadhogs' steel picker, if he had had one, getting a new guitar for Christmas.

The folks on this forum are without a doubt some of the best people to be found. I have read your replies and some are very funny. The people who tried to help a bumbling idiot like me; and without hurting my feelings, I might add, show what caring and thoughtful people you are.

Please don't kick me off the forum! I promise to be good from here on!

To Bo : I knew I was doing something wrong all these years. Now ... the soldering Iron.... hmmm. lol.

To Bill : You are correct. Our steel player brothers are the best and most helpful friends you will find anywhere. We all have the same trials and love of this beautiful instrument. NOW.... go to your room. :D

The thing I hate is the guy that walks by and turns one key 180o and then wont tell you which key he turned.
