I had trouble with one company a few years back, the changer was ripping strings 3,5,& 10 and I ask them if they thought the changer may have had some weak material used and boy they jumped right down my throat saying that I did not know how or was not putting the strings on right and I was the cause of the strings breaking. I will not name that company for every since that time three days later the guitar was gone and one like it has never been in my house or will one ever be. I do own a emmons guitar that has not gave me a bid of trouble what so ever knock on wood it may have issues tomorrow but not up to this time. I have added alot of extra changes on it with ease, and in the past have not had any trouble getting parts from emmons. but I have not had them to build a guitar and I cant speak on that side of things, I could had had one of those new push pulls but decided on a used one from dana flood in maine. he works for emmons company and he was also the one that designed the fender steel king amps electronics as well.good luck on your deal I wish you the best and also am sorry youve had to go though something like this. for it will leave a bad taste for years to come. Im thinking of one day getting a rains guitar for a extra one I have heard all good things about them and the tone they have are great

Please let us know if you
hear from Emmons and what their
promises are.
I'm glad you gave them a deadline
of 12/29/08.
That was very reasonable of you.

:x Guys it appears that the Emmons people are in another world . No calls or e-mails from them . No explanations or excuses---NOTHING ! It would be somewhat enlightening to hear that someone has been talking with them in one way or another to see if they are still in business ! Or even ask hows Gary's guitar coming along or better yet his money back ? I don't remember if they have a money back guarantee or not ? Wouldn't that be nice to hear ? Just a few more days until i get in touch with my attorney and get the ball rolling i suppose ! This isn't what i would have ever dreamed of in any way shape or form ,it's just boggling my mind to say the least !

Gary I honestly wish I would have talked to you sooner, if I had known that you wanted a new emmons I would have sent my 2 cents, I did see your post of you already having it ordered some time ago so I decided to hope things will go smooth. Sorry to here the way things have turned out I have been following all the post's

Someone please tell what will will this accomplish if you go down to the emmons factory? What are you demanding? Why? Do you hold them hostage till they fork over garys guitar? I don't think I would go on this trip in my wildest dreams, the only reason is for confrontation and probably a night in jail. If I worked their and saw guys coming down to my buisness I would work slower, The better buisness bureau list's emmons as out of buisness!!! I think we should let Gary deal with it hopefully it will be over, probably next year!

AJ,
I've never been down to the factory but have always wanted to see it. I just offered to ride down for moral support. Violence was never a consideration in my book.

A.J. Schobert said that the BBB lists Emmons Guitar Co. as being out of business. That's not a good sign at all.Gary, I hope they will get you your guitar. It should have been shipped out last week. Why don't the folks at the shop let you know what's going on? Maybe the Lashley Family should hire someone who is skilled in steel guitar building, and then, let them do the office duties. :?

Gary,
I can relate to some extent of what you are going through. Back in 1980, I ordered a Sho-Bud. I made the initial deposit for the order at friend on mine's music store and the order was going to take a couple of months.WROOOOOOOOOOOONG di Mundo! It ended up taking 6 months because Sho-Bud was moving their operations from Nashville to Arkansas,So after waiting the 6 months, I went to the music store where I placed the order. My friend, who owned the store said that he had been on them about the order,
he did find out, they shipped a black PRO III with aluminum necks, that another guy ordered about the same time,I ordered mine. He cancelled his order but
they shipped it anyway. The guitar I ordered was in the mahogony stain with the aluminum necks. I went ahead and paid the balance on the black one when it came in. It came in 3 days after I saw my friend.
It's a shame that a company as good as Emmons is having problems with their product.

Nick I'm not pointing you out.

But look at all the post's of guys wanting to go down their, why? Truthfully it is for confrontation, I think alot of guys let their emotions get the better of them, if you want to support gary this is the best way right here on the forum.

But look at all the post's of guys wanting to go down their, why?
Rebeca was on the forum under Gary's thread and said it is going to be worked out.
After 2 and a half weeks we see that Gary is still waiting for his guitar.

A witch hunt is probably not what Gary is waiting for to happen. He just wants to get the guitar in his house so he can sell it.From what I read on the forum does he not want the guitar any longer due to his loss of respect and faith in the builders and the instrument.(understandable)

I am not sticking up for the Emmons family but have to say one thing in their favor though.
Nobody in their right mind will hang dirty laundry outside for all the world to see.
We don't know what is happening in and with the Emmons family.
To start a riot and go down their and do something neither one of us like's to do is not an out come.

Rebeca and Ron should contact Gary and tell him the "why" and "how" without any further delay.
Even if they are in a financial bind or going through stressful and or something else is wrong they are obligated and owe it to Gary and keep him posted.

I'll admit that I was wrong in wanting
to go to Emmons and check on Garys guitar.
It was my emotions wanting to help a friend.
Just because Gary and I have been like
brothers for 30yrs has nothing to do with it.
The way that company is operating is far beneath
the standard of anyone I want to deal with.

I think it may be a good idea to go there and pick up the guitar he sent there for repair...or maybe send a sheriff to pick it up for him....

It has been mentioned before here on the forum that sometimes business(like this for example)should be conducted through mail, e-mail or phone.

Gary has been done injustice and needs to get his guitar....period.
Emmons is stalling and does not deliver what they promised to deliver.
My advice towards Gary is this;

Gary....make one more effort to get what is yours. If they do not comply or do not contact you then and only then is it time for legal actions.

Despite all this bad news do I like Emmons guitars.Their way of doing business does not effect their quality instruments. They are still in the top 5 IMO.

I called last Thursday and ordered 2 fretboards, they were in business then. The BBB site does indicate that " it appears the company is out of business" also states "phones have been disconnected"

As of 12/23/08 1:40pm cst I can attest the phone Is Not disconnected.

Sometimes you can't believe everything you read.

Like all of us here on the forum, I have been reading this post with shocking and saddened interest.

Yes, I have done satisfactory business with the Emmons Company. Further, in the past, I have communicated with Rebecca, Bobby and on one occasion, spoke with Ron while visiting Jody Carver at his home in NY. Moreover, these contacts have always been pleasant and effective albiet sometimes slow.

Still, something has definetly gone wrong here. I am puzzled by Gary's situation and especially with the lack of communication by the Emmons Steel Guitar owners.

This is a terrible public relations episode for the storied Emmons Steel Guitar Company. I agree the Emmons Steel Guitar is truly all the great things it is said to be. But to treat a Customer this way is inexcusable.

I care not to speculate what has gone wrong which is a waste of everyone’s and my time. But I do ask? Is it not possible for a person here who may be well acquainted with the Lashley's, and can act as an Ombudsman, mediator or a reconciler? Clearly, there must be a better way to remedy Gary's serious problem without a Lawyer, hostilities, etc. or at least report to Gary the facts as to what has happened.

Reasonable people will always work out a difference or dispute, that is, if they are reasonable.

Right now, it does not look like the great Emmons Steel Guitar Company is acting reasonable to me. What a shame....I wish Gary the best...TX

Guys this is a sad thing only gary can work out, I would try to look into private medeation services but even then no one is forced to show-up so seek other options, I think forums has alot of weight and it has in the past help resolve things with builders.

JM the BBB lists emmons as out of buisness this is a red flag if you are looking to buy a new emmons this is why you research before you buy! Shure they may have had their phone number changed and still take your $$$ but that is a big red flag.

I have a feeling that this will be drawn out, and I don't know if there is really any quick help.

Gary, This is obviously not their first rodeo .... But it may be their last.

Follow the guidelines here... http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consume ... pro17.shtm

Since you've already given them a deadline... I assume you'll receive your guitar around that date.

Why shouldn't they wait until the last minute? That would break company protocol! :?
