On a semi-related note, how can one exercise mic technique on a headset mic? Or do you just accept that you can't work the mic?
I just use a boom stand, since I like being able to go off-mic when I'm not singing

Talking about accessorizing - I thought about replacing my rear pad on my double body with one with a few cutouts up by the key head (where my hands never go anyway). I'd make a cutout in the shape of my bar and perhaps one for my picks......oh and a drink holder!
That reminds me here's an example of the law of horizontal surfaces. I play for a woman who arrives a little late typically. If I leave the stage I often find her purse sitting on top of my steel when I come back. It used to infuriate me.
Oh...and I had another guy ask me if you could cook hotdogs by laying them on the strings and plugging the steel into the speaker jack of the amp. He said they would spin automatically for an evenly cooked surface if you crank the amp up and have it feed back.
Yeh, that's a little off topic but I'm serious about the armrest cutouts.
