Not with any intention, just a few experiments over the years, but I must say this thread has created in me the urge to do more!

about rubbing with a piece of metal, here what someone suggested:
I have an old pair of gas-pliers. the surface of the handle is somewhat rough, chrome-vanadium, & this is better for disturbing the string... I take the pliers apart when I want to use them for gliss. the shape of the arms helps keep one's hand clear of the strings too.
