Travelling out of town for our Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, I brought some old Hank Snow (Bear Family reissues) with us to play in the car, just haven't heard them in a long time. I don't have the originals with me, but several tunes on one of the CD's include Vibes. Sorry, I can't tell you the titles until I return home.

True, but you can play chords on a trumpet section!

I just picked this up on ebay. Could possibly be my all-time favorite steel album. It's unbelievable.

For the most part, vibes and steel play the heads together, then they trade choruses. The rhythm section is just bass & drums. Vibes and steel are right up front in the mix and sound just beautiful together.

I think this is an example of over use of the vibes.

They just don't stop for a second, And they're being played by the "Producer" who according to Criterion Music's boss, is "The foremost authority on Polynesian Music"

That continual running up and down the scales distracts from the steel. He would have done much better to add the occasional triad and then put in a vibraphone solo part somewhere. I couldn't listen to it all the way through. Are all his numbers like that ?
