I plan on being there Steve. I missed the show in Atlanta last month, but I don't plan to miss this one.
I know I bragged a lot about the last one, but it was just that good that I had to brag a lot.
Anyhow, I want to make the jam session on Saturday night if possible.
Hey Steve, the one thing that I did not brag about the last show was how good the food was. I think I had everything from Barbque to yep, you got it.....HOTDOGS!
It was good stuff man!
See everyone there!

Well, David, I've heard from you and Rob, and Ron, so it looks like we'll be having a small crowd! A fun bunch, though!

Come on Pickers, Saluda isn't that far away and this is for a Good Cause. This is Convention #89, Think about it, Nobody has ever Put on That Number of Conventions. The Food Is Great, The Music Is Super and The Hospitality even Better. You will have a great time.

Lets Go To The Top For A Good Cause!

by Stephen Gambrell
Only a lttle more than a week to go! Charles said he ain't gonna holler at me too much, and Jerry don't talk loud anyway, so it's gonna be a good show. Come on, and help us put out the welcome mat for Ron and Ms. Leslie, as well as everybody else who shows up! And remember, too, why we do this. The Shriners' Hospitals, nationwide, do so much for the kids, and sometimes, we forget about them, and take them for granted. But remember, every time you see a guy wearing a red fez, and selling papers, or candy, there's a child who's grateful for the care he's receiving. And at NO COST, because of those candy sales, and events like this.
So come on and join us! I still ask that, if you intend to play on Sunday, you get in touch with Charles, Jerry, or myself, so we can schedule this thing more efficiently, and without hurting anybody's feelings. It's all about FUN!!!

Stephen, I'll be there Sunday morning. Have to play up here (Greer Opry) Sat nite. Should be there around 10:00 A.M. Some of us old geezers have a hard time getting started after a late night.
Plug me in somewhere.

Roger
Don't listen to Stephen, Have one Bale Of Eastern NC Hay for Bessie Arriving via Ups in Time for you to get to Saluda.
and one Bale waiting in Saluda for the return trip.
Would have sent her Favorite, Sweet Potatoes, But the gassing Effect on The Driver is too intense.

This will be Convention #89 and Still Going Strong.
Don Helms once said that This was one of the First Steel Guitar Shows he ever played.
Saluda helps Support one of the Most Worthwhile Charities in the world, The Shriners Childrens Hospitals.
Brother Don Helms Supported This Charity almost all of his adult life without hesitation. I'm Sure That There will be many Fond Rememberances of Our Brother this weekend and Quite a few Tributes.
You can rest assured that Don and Buddy Walker will be looking down remembering the appearances That Our Brother made at Saluda.
I think this would be a proper and fitting way to remember Don and pay our last respects to him at Saluda, short of attending his services.
The Will of God having been accomplished, We Turn to that old Addage, The Show Must Go On.
Ron Elliott is a Superb Performer and Will Put on a great Show.

Truer words can't be spoken, John! Don, John Hughey, Buddy, and many more, are missed at EVERY Saluda Convention. But the Reece family works tirelessly, giving the show the class that it's known for. They're my adopted family, and it's just crazy how much they do for each convention. Did anybody get a postcard? That means that one of the Reeces stamped it. Email? Same. Charles is in bad health, as we all know, and still works his rear end off for the convention. And Jerry? My baby brother runs sound, plays drums, runs the show when Charles isn't able to be there---The Energizer Bunny of the show, for sure. The show literally could not go on without these two men. Men who are not Shriners, just good guys who'd fall over themselves to help somebody. The players? Traveling at their own expense, to play for this good cause. The staff band? Studio quality musicians, playing for FREE for both the Saturday night jam and the show on Sunday. And they hardly ever get a break.
And the most important part of ANY Southern Steel Guitar Convention---The tremendous audiences.
So come on out this weekend, y'all! If you don't enjoy yourself, you don't know how to have fun. Support the Shriners' Hospitals, The Southern Steel Guitar Convention, and the effort put forth for a great show!
God bless y'all!!!

The Boys will be Jamming Tonight and if you don't live too far away, you still have time to make the Show Tomorrow. Ron Elliott will be The Featured Steel Guitarist and He is a Great One. One of the More Tasteful Players around. Get Out to See Him if You Can. You won't be Disappointed.
John
Just wondering....
