Roman -
I would say that Greg Leisz and Nels Cline are easily my two favorite players. Thank you.

Hi Michael,...the whole track sounds great but the steel takes the cake.
What tuning are you using?
Cheers

I'm using a 6 string version of G6 as follows:
D
B
G
E
D
B
While it would be nice to have a 7 string so I could have a "G" on the bottom, I find that most steel parts are on higher strings so I don't really miss it. Most people seem to gravitate towards low C6 but I prefer to have the 5th on top.
I also find that G6 works great with the keys of guitar based music because you can utilize the open strings a lot (like a dobro does). There are a number of riffs in this song where I'm playing a combination of barred and open notes.
My other favorite tuning right now is open D:
D
A
F#
D
A
D
You can't get 3 note minor triads with it but there are a lot of cool things that can be done buy implying chords.
