Yeah but consider this: You can't put cables,picks,bar,volume pedal,strings,charts,tuners,stomp boxes,mics,etc,etc inside a folding drum stool or the like. And if you have those things you're gonna have to carry them in something which will probably turn out to be another case or bag. So why not just combine the two into one and be done with it. I use the smallest pac-a-seat I could find - a GFI w/no sidecar,no backrest,no built-in ac power strip,blah-blah-blah and it holds all my stuff and then some & is a very stable and comfortable perch.

all those things aren't necessary if A.) you play acoustic and B.) It's too darn heavy to lug around. Three light bags are mUCh easier for my aching and I do mean aching back than one huge seat/suitcase. Plus I can have more flexibility in how I pack them.

Problem is, it's comfortable enough that after I play for a while I find myself wishing for a headrest so I could take one of my infamous chair naps.

I made my seat immediately after playing a new bar gig where there was NO armless chair available and I had to sit on my amp all night. Vowed right here I wouldn't do that again.

MJ, you make a very good point, if I was putting a gig rig together for the first time I would more than likely either buy or make a storage seat after reading your posts. Seams very logical to integrate as many items as possible to simplify transporting gear. I may even go that route at some point but I already have solutions for carrying all of my peripherals.

AJ also make a good point because lately I've been playing more acoustic than electric, so for those times I only need a comfy stool with a back.

Randy, your homemade seat is awesome! If I were to decide on that option I think I'd want one like that. Is that a boat seat? Excellent... looks very comfortable.

Dave, the pic&glider looks like the ultimate for home practice and general relaxation. A bit pricy but if it's a quality piece it's probably worth it. If I could get one in a color that my wife would like I might just be able to keep it in the family room
