Thanks. Playing standard 12-string guitar has definitely made it easier on the fingertips. I actually read about it in Andy Volk's Lap Steel book in the David Lindley section, so I've been working on it. When you can nail the pitch it's really worth the extra effort (and discomfort!). It's tough because the further you slide, you need to change how much you pull the string. It creates a lot of possibilities, though.

Make that 3 Loony's, Steve.
Pull and slide to nearby frets is a great sound along with the technique Howard mentioned, you get that PSG slur effect.
What with Matt said, controlling the pitch as you move the bar, whilst pulling the string back, takes a lot of work and a good ear. But man, it is really worth it!!
But, I think you have to do "Finger Up's" every morning, like Harry does.. Gheesh!! TX
