I use a Classic SS that I converted to an Sd-10. It never breaks a string sounds great and is smooth as silk. Jack Palmer.

1978 MSA Vintage XL D12

Still pickin' the heck out of this ol '72, setup is universal, with a few added triple raises. You can bet these ol MSA's will be around for many years to come. They are real work horses thats for sure.

I'll still drag out my ol' 1973 8+8 Classic if the prospective "environment" isn't suitable to use my "Mill".

This little 10-banger was originally purchased as a back-up to my D-12 back in 1983 (this guitar is a '74).

Over the years I've bought and sold several different brands, but this is the only one that has never left the stable. I've owned 4 MSA's and each has been an excellent guitar. I've never had an issue with any of them. This one plays as well as any "modern" guitar I've sat behind....and I've never had to file or modify any parts .

I've accumulated enough parts to configure this one as a 6/5, and routinely change it around to try different pulls. Solid!

I would like to take one of Gary Rittenberry's guitars for a spin.....

I don't need another steel, and actually have no place to put one, but I can't help thinking how cool it would be to have one of those black mica guitars with the white trim to go with my white one with the black trim.

I once jokingly told Bud Carter that he built those MSAs so well that there was no reason for me to get a new Carter, and he laughed, but said others had told him the same thing.

Over the years have owned severeal topnotch guitars,My 35 year old MSA-D10 is the ONLY one that I have to change the third string because it goes dead,can't remember the last time I broke one while I was playing.DYKBC.

My 1975 maple D-10 Classic is my contribution. My first and only guitar for about 15yrs until the new Legend came along. I still take it out to jobs a couple of times a year. Been a good old guitar, still a good old guitar.

Steve: your MSA S-10 looks like mines 'litte brother' & don't ya just love the color of them!! Yours would do those flowers of mine justice!!

While originally browsing this thread, I did a double-take when I came across the picture of your guitar.

My wife has taken up painting with watercolors and enjoys painting flowers and desert plants. She used my favorite pair of boots as a vase for her flowers in this painting, and it came out so good I just couldn't get mad at her......



So when I saw what I thought was MY guitar with those flowers on it.........

I don"t have a picture of Les Green"s 1974 MSA,but I
got to sang a few songs with his backup and it sounded very good. It was a real treat to hear Les,and Sonny and the other guy"s,I had not played with them for 50 years.Thanks again.

I'm still playing my MSA Vintage XL D10, blue laquer, that I bought from Danny Cormier about 2 years ago. Play it every day & gigs also. I love it. Stays in tune when moved, & does NOT have that Emmons P/P sound and thank goodness. If everybody had the same tone there would be no need for any other guitars or players. I like the sounds I can get from mine! I am lucky to have it.

Ricky, that is one beautiful guitar!

Here is my 76 Classic S10. I also just took in a slightly earlier one to overhaul for a friend before he sells it.

Mine is a 1974 S10. I have returned the pots to factory. Replace the capacitor and added the factory switch that was used for the D10. I added a 1/4" jack to the underside. A short 1/4" cable connects my tuner to the pickup and is disconnected by the switch.

I HAVE A 1974 S10 LIKE NEW ,LOVE IT.BLACK MICA/WHITE TRIM 5X4. WHITE COLORED PU.I TALKED TO REECE SHORTLY BEFORE HIS PASSING,HE CONFIRMED IT WAS 74.

I love MSAs. I cut my teeth on a white tidewood Classic U-12 back in '73 and played that baby to death.

Now, I have 2 late 70s, lacquer, 12 string "The Universal" steels. The most recent one that I purchased was one of Reece's personal guitars. And am I ever proud of it. It's one beautiful guitar, and it reminds me of him every time I look at it. I really miss that ole boy, too.
