10:4 on the Stageone. I've had half dozen steels in the past 40 years and the only thing that came close is a "new" fender 400 I bought new back in '64. Can't beat it for the $$$

Another vote for the Zum. It's easily the best of the three you mentioned.

Is the setup adjustable on the Stage 1?

ok, $895, I think I was confusing the Stage One with the Black Jack.
$895 is a great price.
Not bad , this is the only time I was wring this year !

The Stage One sounds really interesting. The only quality steel I can think of near that price range is the GFI student model, which is one that takes "student" to a pretty darned high level - they are as good as many so-called pro guitars. Based on personal experience that's the one I'd recommend, but I'd bet the Zum is just as good if it's anywhere near the quality of their upper models.

James Collett - No, the setup is permanent on the Stage One. Emmons pedals, Left knees lower and raise E's, RKL raise F#'s, RKR lower D#.
Thanks everyone for the nice words about the Stage One Steel Guitars! I'm trying!!!

I did a gig with "Zum-balito" in Hollywood last weekend and parking was really bad, so being able to put my NV-112, seat and Stage One guitar on my dolly and only make one trip of 4 blocks walking from my parking place to the club was PRICELESS!!!

re Conversion rates etc
The Dekley in question is already in Australia, a 2 hour drive from where I live.
So the the other two I would have to to ship to Oz and pay freight, tax and import duty on.
So the bottom line for me in Oz is similar for the 3 PSG's mentioned.
Also, unfortunately all this stuff is more expensive here because it's all imported from the U.S
Not many PSG makers here that I know of anymore.
Damien, i will call you and hopefully I can get down there to Tamworth and see your set. Are you playing other gigs besides "Southbound'?
If you hear of anything for sale upto $1500, let me know. Thanks for the link. A nice D10 Zum in N.Z. I see! Out of my budget just now though.
cheers all

Jeremy,
I have actually left southbound now, finished up just before Christmas. They have another steeler now - Nick Summers - real nice guy and great player.
I'm playing with Tall Timbre and Mark Lucas, so drop by and it'll be great to meet you. Yeah I saw that ZUM - looks real nice, but probably a little out of the beginner range.
I will contact a few player round the place and put the feelers out for a guitar - you never know what's out there.

Zum Stage One gets my vote.
My dad got one in December because he needed a lighter instrument due to health issues. We were pretty skeptical about it being such a cheaply priced guitar but I will be the first to say the thing really plays and sounds better than some of the "pro" guitars I've played. The Zum Stage One in my opinion IS a pro level guitar without a doubt.
As far as the Dekleys go, they are wonderful guitars. I owned one for several years and they are in my opinion very underrated. They are built like a tank and I think just as heavy as one, that was my only complaint, the weight of it. It all depends on what you really want I 'reckon. Then again my first guitar was a 70's ZB Custom which I think was possibly the heaviest guitar I ever had to carry. It was my dad's old axe up until around '97. I picked up the D10 Dekley pro model used for $1000+S/H I haven't really been paying much attention to what they go for these days but I wouldn't think very much more.
