Picks

Years ago in Atlanta a somewhat well known steel player asked to sit in on my steel and of course I said OK. I assumed that he had his own picks but he did not and proceeded to bend my picks to his liking. When I got back up to play my picks were far too big and I had to redo them to fit my fingers again. Now if anyone wishes to sit in the first thing he finds is that my picks are in my pocket and not left on the steel.

Hey Ques, In my opinion that is a big no-no. Also, anyone who has a regular habit of "sitting in" should at least carry their own picks and bar.

I used Nationals for years and it took me a month or more to break them in.

I use ProPicks now, and I can put a new set on and it will be as good as a broken in set. They're great!

Hi Dan, Please forgive my ignorance, I have been out of the loop for a few years. Could you tell me about "pro picks". Thanks, Charlie

Hi Charlie,

I get mine at Dusty Strings in Seattle, but I'm sure there's a dealer closer to you.

Here's a link to the product: ProPicks

Well after reading this post I got my pick box out of my pac-seat and found I have five sets of Nationals! And all of them are new except one set that I used for many years. I switched to the Newman picks about ten years ago, and I love em!

Hi Robert, It sounds like you re-discovered your old jewels.I have used Dunlops since I began playing. Are the Jeff Newman picks the same as "Pro Picks"?. Thanks, Charlie Whitten
