Roy & Laurie, you guys sure know how to chase folks away with that last picture you inserted. Good looking steel guitar though. Will be glad to see all and spend time with some of my best friends that I get to hear play their steels too.
Jack, you are on the program and we will work you all day long with that fiddle too if you like...Looking forward to that so much and then a double treat when you sit behind your steel guitar. Good times ahead folks. And should Ray H. come down, ole Ben will have to pay close attention because we will work him all afternoon on the stage too. (Ray had just recorded vocally with John Hughey shortly before John passed away and I am sure he will have some of his cds with him). Should he not be able to make it, just look up Ray here on the forum and order Ray's singing and John's playing from Ray-one of the very best singers and bass players I have ever been fortunate enough to be on a band with. It Happens from all the wonderful support of DSSG members and associates, Ben being one of the best.
Ben just informed me that the great Tony Lane will be in house and will be heard on his George Morgan era of steel playing plus his great lead guitar talents on stage all afternoon with players of his, Tony's choice.
Jeff Reynolds will have his entire show band from Jackson in house. More about this later. Billy Carr and his group will be here in force too.
Scott Pero who thrilled all the players and audience with his classical guitarist performance will again be with us. Scott will have a display booth this time to market his music cds etc. Also Jim Adams and his beautiful custom dobros will be displaying again.
This program started out just to be a business meeting and jam session, but you guys just won't let it happen that way. Gordon Dodson called me from Ozark, Al. (home of Julian Tharpe) and will be on our program with his 14 string EXCEL with Julian's tuning to display and play on stage. (Gordon told me that when he was about five years old, the family lilving on one side was the Tharpes and on the other side was the Chalkers-WOW!). What a way to go!! Anxious to hear those wonderful sounds Julian gave to us with his, Julian's "E96" tuning. I am hoping to have Wayne Gray and his very professional and balanced band on stage. Will know this week about that. And just mayhbe, Romeo Sullivan, Disc Jockey Hall Of Fame member, might be able to be in house to help run this show.
We will give John Hughey a blessing and music appreciation memorial show next to none. Also waiting to hear from Buck and Mitzie Grantham. We might have to play late into the night to cover all the players deisres on this one folks. Lots of good food and I will provide my red beans and rice portion and the VFW will collect a small fee on all the food to assist them in Katrina recovery etc. So come early in the morning and help DSSG plan for the rest of the year. Thanks again. I will post the schedule as soon as it is finalized. (This is hard to do and I will do my best to satisfy all the players and audience best I can).

Hi Bill, I am really excited about Feb. 9th show. Looking at and reading the post it may be another
full house of great players and fans as well. we have got little over three weeks to go and the roster is filling up and flowing over. I hope Mr Ed Clark can make it. If I have to drive up and get him and Mrs Clark I will. "Have VAN will travel"you know me, im Flying RJ and on the road every day. As I was riding along thinking about some of the songs i would like to play in honor of mr John I thought no one knew him any better than Ben . I called Ben and asked him what was some of Mr Johns Favorites and he begin to tell me. Thanks Ben-jamin Odell for the Info. Bill thank you for helping me with some Arrangements on the songs i will be doing in honor of Mr. John Huey. Im Still a Novice compared to many, however the tracks and advice Mr John Huey Gave to me during his visit to the our Fish Camp has helped me to feel and appreciate the Instrument He so Loved. I am looking forward to seeing our friends and Steel guitar family again.
Sincerely;
R J Buras

Just confirmed that Wayne Gray and his band will be on stage. Getting better all the time folks, and to prove this point, go to U Tube and look up Wayne Gray. You will hear Wayne on his guitar play "Orange Blossom Special" using a violin bow. Guaranteed to knock you all out. And his band, on stage, sounds like a very big time recording studio session. Our new year will get off to a good start, thanks to all our friends and supporters.
R.J., I need the names of our Alabama steel players who will be here. Want to most certainely have them on the program. Thanks to all. Nice to hear from you too, John Floyd, and if you could only be here to keep ole Ben and Mike Hoover straight.....We will definitely miss Rob Parker and Ms Lana this time.

LIST "GIT-FIDDLIN"
AH Billy
You done and chunked a broom handle in my bicyle spokes. I don't know if I can survive being in the same building with Romeo and Wayne, at the same time.
Now you take Romeo for instance,,,,,,,,OK !!! NOW DO THAT !!!
Then Wayne with the "GIT-FIDDLE". If you've never seen Wayne's "GIT-FIDDLE", you sure don't want to miss it this time. There'll be pine rosin all over everything on that stage. He'll have that thing movin so fast, the whole building will smell like someone set fire to fifty pounds of "LIGHTER KNOTS".
Now believe it or not, some folks don't know what a "LIGHTER KNOT" is. For the benefit of the folks what don't, just come on down to the show, and ask R.J. He can sho-nuff tell you what it is.
Sure am hoping our big buddy Mike Hoover can make the trip down from AR--KANSAS. He's kinda busy right now trying to figure out how he's gonna spend all that retirement money. Ms Darce is keeping him on track. He'll figure it out.
Billy, some of those Alabama players will include, Gary Moore, Herman Wain----right, Tony Lane, Herby Stewart, etc, etc. TONY LANE,,,, and TONY LANE. Nope,,,that ain't a TYPO. Tony will be there playing steel, lead guitar, and if we talk to him just right, singing a fine song. I'm sure there'll be several high points when Romeo and Tony get together.
Sure gonna miss the sweetheart of St Louis, Ms Lana, and Rob. Hate they're gonna miss the show.
I'm really looking forward to the big-un on Feb 9th. And R.J. if you need me to go with you to drag Ed (ole Joe) Clark and his bull to the show, just let me know, I'll do tha drivin. Keep in mind,,,,,,,,I ain't a goin over there and try to man handle Mr Ed. I'll leave all the draggin to you.
Mr Ed tells me all the time, he's gonna whoop me so bad, my dog won't smell me for three months. Grabbin a hold of Mr Ed would be worser'n trying to wrestle a 16 foot alligator in a phone booth.
Ya'll load-um UP ,,,,&,,,,Brang-um down !!!!!! It's been a long dry spell (without a show) and will be great to see everybody.

I am waiting on just a few more players, locally, before I can complete the program. Our programs keep on growing and this one is really expanding in a neat way.
Looking forward to Roy and Laurie Ayers being here to represent the ISGA Hall of Fame for our memorial segment to John Hughey. Just thinking of being able to listen to Buck Grantham, Hal Higgens, Billy Carr, Danny Harrell, and a few surprise guests play in honor of JOhn Hughey will be a stirring memorial for all of us to honor John. Gordon Dodson, good friend and protege of Julian Tharpe will be here. Tony Lane from George Morgan's band will play us some beautiful music-we will hear "Candy Kisses" the way it should be played too. Jack Goodson will have his steel on stage and he will grace this stage with his fiddle all afternoon. Too many to name on this notice. Will publish the players list next week.
Hank Corwin will have a fluegal horn jazz musician with his program. Scott Pero, classical jazz guitarist out of New Orleans will be with us again to give us a soothing break in the middle of the afternoon. We will aso have a trio of steel players from the Alabama connection feeaturing Gary Moore and Herbie Stewart. See you all soon.
Things are looking up in 2008 for our DSSG sessions.

And the beat goes on and on...Royce Tarver will be on stage and that is such good news. Jim, I will help you on stage and we can find a few vocalists to sing fill-ins for you. Can't wait to hear Winston Street's daughter with her gorgeous voice. What a talent here folks. Show is shaping up great and I have got the final list of players and will have the schedule posted soon-as soon as I get over this flu bug. See you all soon.
