Thanks for explaining the background noise/chatter, maybe the balance was 'unrealistic' as the camera mike was nearer the crowd, I think I was just initially a bit shocked at what appeared to be disinterest shown by the audience, this was obviously not the case, it has certainly not put me off my plans to attend next year. My thanks again for submitting the clips.

My "spring it on the band" song. My new favorite tune! Some good shots of my flesh "yarmulke".

:whoa:

How cool is that ... thanks a-million

I'm sure glad I wore my new "duds" ... I sure wouldn't want Jeff Au Hoy pissed off at me too ...

Hey, wait a minute ... where's Blue Hawaiian Moonlight ... Gerald got his whole set up there ...

Sorry the files are so big ... Chris Kennison said I should play more and talk less ...

Hey wait a minute ... thats just the opposite of what he said to me last year

We were so bad this year ... our "misadventures" surely would get us kicked off here (the SGF) ...

The HSGA Forum administrator has been working overtime ... editing out all of Harry D.'s, Jeff S.'s and especially that Craig S.'s posts ... in the Joliet '07 board ...

"Potty mouths" ... :P :P :P

"Potty mouths" ...
Yes, Harry D is the king of expletives. It's pure art when he speaks. He can make a single word a noun, verb and adjective all in the same sentence.

We all try to duplicate his seamless stream, his pure woven tapestry, his "Ptah" of colorful and descriptive words but we fail miserably.

We are but a poor substitute for the real thing.

Okay - Blue Hawaiian Moonlight had gotten lost in the shuffle, so to speak - BUT I FOUND IT ! !
and here it is:
BLUE HAWAIIAN MOONLIGHT by Rick Aiello
a lovely rendition if ever I heard one . . :)
You did talk quite a bit, I found it very interesting.
The audience sure knew a lot more about you by the end of your set . .

Keep trying Gerald...someday you'll get there. :D

BTW Gerald...I noticed this year you lost your steel playing habit of crossing your leg.

Ha,ha...getting too old, huh?

I saw the tricone National in the first vid... Were there any other acoustic steels played at this event?

Dave "The Hula Monster" Giegerich played half his set with an 8 string Dobro.

His virtuosity on both electric and acoustic steel ... is, too say the least ... mind boggling.

and Doug Smith played a resonator on a stand in his set on Saturday.
He sounded excellent - a very multi-talented guy.

Kay Das played a great set, ably assisted by:
Bass - Wayne Shishito
Guitar - Chris Kennison
Ukulele - Gerald Ross

Here are the videos:

Rick Alexander is absolutely correct ...

Dave Kolars (gentleman playing the tricone in the first video listed) ... also treated use with an outstanding performance on single cone National (I think) in his set ...

Both Dave G. and Dave K. had a "tad" bit of ... for lack of a better term ... a ragtime influence shining thru .

Doug Smith ... on the other hand ... played a Dobro with a very "Hawaiian Style" ... (as all who have heard him can attest).

Doug is a "Master" of the steel guitar ...

Rick,
Thanks for filming (is that still a word?) and posting these. Friday night jam #1 is "Hula Blues (in F)". The others I don't know. I hooked up my laptop to the big screen tv to watch life size, it's just like being there (except on the opposite side of the room, and I didn't have any Hawaiian Colorado beer).

Thanks Gerald!
Jam #4
I re-uploaded it. Hopefully it will fly now.
That one is only 40 seconds long, but it's 40 very interesting seconds . .

I still have more of the jams and a few of the Saturday sets.
I'm doing a show on Hollywood Beach this evening, so I'll do a few now and the rest tomorrow.
