I talked with Jerry Hendrix yesterday on e-mail and says he won't be making it, but he gave me a list of must see and talk to people.
I am looking forward to it.

Of course it does Keith. There will lots of knowledgeable players there who will be willing to answer any questions you may have, and maybe even show you a lick or two.
Mike Sigler is planning a "question and answer" seminar Saturday morning, so be sure to get signed up for that.

Hey friends,
Seeing these last three posts, from three of my favorite players really makes me want to be there. Let me see, if I can leave here about noon, fifteen or so hours on the road will put me there around three or so in the morning, ..........well, maybe I need to rethink this one.
Anyway, have a great time and Cohen, don't forget to play that Suzy Bogguss song for the folks. I know they'll love it.
See ya soon,
Jim

Folks, the steel show was a great success and loads of fun.Jim performed Saturday and he was a total crowd pleaser. What an amazing picker on some unusual tunes not normally heard on steel guitar, around here anyhow.Sunday his portion was just as good,if not better. He's an excellent entertainer. The phone call from "mom" was hilarious.Great job,Jim,hope to see and hear you again next year.Mike Sigler was even better than last year.Like a fine wine I guess. He brought his new Webb amp and it sounds fantastic.Of course Mike's skill on that GFI had a lot to do with it.He did some awesome speed picking on Sunday that put everyone on the edge of their seats.A very special Happy Birthday went out to a couple in the crowd as Mike did his version of the song "George Jones" style.Even the steel playing was retro.Incredible job Mike.Hope you never stop coming up to entertain us.Doug Jernigan's show was nothing short of amazing.A superb picker with a humble attitude.Never have heard the steel guitar played so cleanly and seemlessly.Sunday's show was a little on the warm side due to an issue with the A/C but Doug was unaffected and everyone had an incredible time despite the inconveinance of no air conditioning.I,for one, could not have had a better time if I had wished for one.The Michigan pickers were at their peaks as well as the folks from out of state.A special thanks to them for making the trip up.See you all next year and God bless.

I'd like to say 'thanks' to Danny and the rest of the Michigan crew for inviting me to participate in this very fun event. It was great to be among so many friendly people, make new friends, see some old ones (and watch them get older
), and generally have a great time. Special thanks to the fearless house band who were willing to tackle my usual assortment of off-the-wall selections, and to various friends who jumped up impromptu or on short-notice to grab a guitar and join the fray (Gene, Tim, Marilyn, Del; thanks to you all), and especially to Jaxie who even woodshedded some of my tunes in advance of the show; that's dedication; thanks Jaxie!
Michigan has a great bunch of steelers, as this show amply demonstrated. Danny Hullihen is a masterful player: so tasteful and precise whether it's in a solo or backup context. You may not know, but he's an excellent drummer too. Lonny has a really nice tone and touch and a friendlier guy you've never met, Gene was a pleasure to hear on his triple neck Custom (?) showing us that bar-slant technique still lives despite us lazy pedal-pushers, Wayne and Linda Hetzler (from PA) did an outstanding set and Linda did a great job on vocals- very smooth (loved 'Candle in the Wind' (?) and thanks for playing my favorite, 'Runaway'). It was also my first chance to meet and hear Drew Howard, who did a super set; I loved his quirky take on some of the old steel guitar 'chestnuts'. Unfortunately, I didn't get to hear all of the sets and there were some sets by other fine players whose names I unfortunately did not catch, but every one was an accomplished player that all made for a fun, terrific two days.
And then there were Mike Sigler and Doug Jernigan, the two bad boys of speed picking. What can ya say about these guys? Since I was commuting back and forth to Interlochen to see my son's evening concerts there, I didn't get to hear any of Doug's sets this time but I know him well enough to know what you guys heard was amazing. And I did catch one of Mike's sets and he's another astonishing player (and singer).
All in all a wonderful time. Thanks so much for inviting me to be a part of it all.
Best,
Jimbeaux
p.s. Oh, and Mom says 'thanks' too.

I would like to thank Danny and all the folks in Michigan.I enjoyed playing the show. I enjoyed listening to all the Michigan steel players. Jim Cohen and Mike Sigler played great also. It was also nice to get out of the heat here in Tennessee. The temps up there were about 6 degrees cooler than here at home.

I would like to thank Danny, Marilyn and the rest of the folks for making this great weekend possible. Being somewhat new at playing steel and this being my first time at at this event, the people made me feel welcomed. I heard some great picking, learned a lot and made some new friends. It dosen't get any better than this.

Thanks for all the kind words and compliments on the show guys. The show was a great success as always, and everyone gave their all. Mike, Doug, and Jim all put on an absolutely fantastic show, as did all of the players. Wayne and his wife, Linda, drove all night to get here, then put on a great show for us as well as helped out with equipment handling all day! This was one of our best steel guitars shows yet, and I've been getting a ton of emails and phone calls about it with everyone already looking forward to the next one.
My heart-felt thanks goes out to all of you for making this show another great success, and a special thanks to Jaxie and Marilyn and all the rest of the back up band for their terrific performance and timeless energy in this.
God bless all of you, and I'm looking forward to the next one!
