Wow, thanks for that info Michael!During the WWII era National-Dobro relocated to Chicago and was reorganized as VALCO.

That clears up a misconception I've had.
A well respected vintage dealer gave me some info on the name when I showed him the guitar.
He said it was short for "Value-Control", because my guitar had so many tone/volume presets.
(I won't name names, but in his defense he specializes
in vintage Mandolins from his store on Staten Island)
Maybe he was right. The name on the pick guard is "Val-Trol".
