I like all those mentioned and would add Tom Brumley's solo on "I Sang Dixie" as another great solo.

"Last Letter" By Buddy Emmons on the Shot Jackson tribute CD. It almost caused me to wreck my car the first time I heard it, seriously!

"Bluesman" done by Lloyd Green. I still wish he had recorded that song on his last album. I am content with "Jukebox Charlie".
though.

Jimmy Day's intro and fills on the Johnny Bush hit "You Ought To Hear Me Cry". Of course his turn around on Bush's "Farewell Party" wasn't too shabby either. It still gives me chills to listen to it.

Several of you already mentioned a couple of my favorites, Someday Soon, Together Again. Whenever I hear those tracks I have stop whatever I'm doing and sort of pay homage. But, how about John Hughey on Fifteen Years Ago and Hello Darlin'. They still give me goose bumps.

My vote goes to "Love Notes" by Lloyd Green, from the Lloyds of Nashville LP.

If only one choice on the most beautiful steel song for me would be Buddy Emmons live in the 80's, playing his version of "Mansion On The Hill".

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Greensleeves or Danny Boy. Maybe out of prominence or boring but they are both beautiful when done by someone like the Big E, Bobbe Semour or Winnie Winston. Awesome.

Lots of Emmons & Day tunes & breaks...I'm still discovering work from these gents that most here have known for years. If I had to choose one based on chill bumps every time it's Sneaky on Take It Easy/Our Lady of the Well. Someday Soon did the same for me when it came out and hooked me on *THAT* sound.

"I Love you so much it Hurts" Buddy Emmons
"Poor Little Allison" Curly Chalker
Another vote for "Ten Thousand Years" Herby Wallace

Not necessarily in this order.

I could probably listen to Ben Keith's solo in Albuquerque by Neil Young a hundred times in a row. Stunning.

"Look At Us" is probably one of my favorites. The song came out way before I started playing steel. There's just so many steel songs out there.

I'm very surprised to see that Jimmy Day's name isn't mentioned all over the posts here, concerning this topic. Listen to his rendition of A House Is Not A Home, Am I Losing You, Lonely Street(All Those Years album). I Love You Because, I Love You So Much It Hurts Me(Steel and Strings album). Jimmy Day reminds me of someone "making love" to his steel guitar. I've heard stories where he would go into jam sessions without pedals and play all the bar slants you could imagine. There's alot of great players but there's only a handful that make you feel the "magic".

I guess my personal favorite would be Lloyd Green's version of the Lynn Anderson song, "Too much of you." Simply awesome.
