What can you say about Doug's picking.. he plays both necks at once and I mean strings pedals and levers.
His E9 technique is classic steel guitar, his back up work behind Don the guitar player was great, lots of moving notes and chordal scales.
His C6 is in another zone. Jazz chords, bebop stylings, and great swing. He has more effortless speed than most pickers.
He played two sets with a wdie range of styles.
Sitting right up in front of him I was able to watch his picking and the use of both palm and pick blocking.
The band was darn good too, Lee was great on the drums, laying it down and kicking the beat as needed. The bass player was really playing the upright. HE had charts and although many of the tunes were new to him, he was up to the task.
Don got to sing a couple tunes with a mellow Ray Price like baritone and picked some pretty nice licks on the 6 string.
Dougs was playing a Zum, not the Hybrid, traveling light, except for the steel, I think he was using all borrowed gear. He used a RV3 and a N-400...

The recital room is live, with a short natural echo in it.. I would have cut the PA reverb and guitar delay a bit ..it would have cleaned up the PA.

Dan and Janet Mason are hereby commended for producing their first concert and although it was far from a packed house, many lessons were learned.
I look forward to more of his shows.
