Todd,

This is going to be a custom PU that should sound better than an original. I explained to Jason I would prefer it to sound more bluesy than twangy. He say's he knows exactly what to do with it, extra hair and all.

I've had the bug to get a lap for years but never touched one until about a month ago. A friend of mine was given, YES GIVEN, a D8 stringmaster. Hearing that was all it took for me to get started. If I can keep this addiction to 4K I'll be happy.
"The Bug" got started years ago when I saw David Gilmore of Pink Floyd playing a Jedson Lap steel on stage. I had thought up until that time all his slide work was done on a standard six string. Go figure. I've actually obtained a second Champ. It is original except for a refinish. Actually I have also determined that both of these guitars are not actually Champs, they have factory legs. That makes them a Studio Deluxe model (could be deluxe studio as well). Yes, I'm looking for a Jedson, want an old Ric, Epiphone & Gibson. Not to mention multineck Fenders.

Anyway............I'll be able to make a good A-B comparison for everyone here on the Lollar PU. I'm having just too much fun.

I think the laps and other steels are a great way into vintage guitars right now. A little $250-500 fender lap today will most likely be untouchable in 10-15 years. The value of the multi-neck consoles has already gotten up there..............I need one or two now!! Yes, I have GAS (guitar aquisition syndrome).

Best,

Rich
