Hi Jody,

Up late tonight....

Questions: What model Fenders did you use on HCOA? Was it the same one you used on Arthur Godfrey's show?

Was there a prize for wining the Arthur Godfrey show/s other than a cup of Lipton Tea?

It seems that the Arthur Godfrey show on CBS back then was a forerunner to todays "American Idol" show, eh?

I just watched Robert Randolf on "Austin City Limits"....but you were the first steeler I saw live on TV when I was about 10 years old!! 8) Talk about a "Reality Show". :) TX

Rgds,

Ron

Ron, first off,I am getting a kick out of the prize that the winner
would receive  There few a few sponsors that Godfrey had
One of which was Pillsbury cake mix which was "white" flour, Imagine me being covered with Flour and I could be the "White" Knight Of Fender Tweed. Keep em flyin buddy and come on and bring your Emmons with you and we will jam a bit. Yes I have a lifetime supply of Lipton's tea hahaha.

Thank you for being my friend.

Your Buddy Love ya pal

Jody.

Ron, I did use the Fender Custom on both the Hot Club Of America as well as The Godfrey show, and back then, the alternate show was not as American Idol is today, it was "Chance Of A Lifetime" with Dennis James as host and I was on that show and won 10 weeks consecutivley, a great honor, and my buddy Danny Davis was the one that after his being on "Chance Of A Lifetime" for 16 weeks finally handed the crown to me, funny thing, we both worked at the Village Barn In Greenwich Village for 5 years as we alternated. Our theme song was, September Song and when we heard that we knew it was our time to get on that bandstand and whip out some Western swing vice versa with Danny Davis, now known as "The Nashville Brass".

Hope to see ya soon

Thanks again and sorry my posts are so long.

Hi Jody,

Just got back in town. It's like "Star Wars" out there in the Airline industry. Seen a herd of turtles travel faster!!

Thank you for your reply. I do remember Dennis James and his show. History just repeats itself, eh? And that's good!!

The tone on that Fender Custom you used was really something to marvel at!! 8)

Now, let's see, no effects unit on the Arthur Godfrey show, you did have a volume pedal that vexed Arthur G., don't know what kind of Amp you used, that said, I am just in awe when I hear your sound in that preformance. :) Simply amazin!!

Be well, White Knight of Fender Tweed, hope to stop by soon and enjoy some of your prize winnings (Lipton Tea and Pillbury flour)!! TX

Ron

Ron, I used a Fender Twin no reverb with a wide panel amp with 2 -12"speakers and for the foot volume control I used an Epi-Rocco Tonexpressor. You had better hurry up to see me, and when you come, I'll douse myself with White Pillsbury Mix and heat up a cup of Liptons Tea, Watch for a Godfrey special to be announced in the not too distant future, PBS will titled it "Seems Like Old Times" 8) It's still not definite, keep you posted and from what I hear there will be a Hawaiian trio from Ohio doing the show and the soundtrack. Love to see those McGuire sisters again :D This show will originate from Ottawa Canada.

Good to hear from you, Keep em flyin. Captain
